If you stored the data for the next generation state-of-the-art weapon system on your mac, I'm betting my breakfast coffee for a month that the hackers would have it cracked wide open within days. If not the Chinese, then the other companies bidding on the system.

If you haven't guessed, it's because 99.9632556% of our defense system works OUTSIDE of the Pentagon and requires access.

Someone fucked up and connected two networks that are not supposed to be connected. That person will soon be, if not already, running cable inside the Arctic Circle.

I sit and watch iftop every now and then and it amazes me how many chinese and russian robots hit my IP addresses.

Also, there is no concept of 100% security. Any system can be hacked. The chances of any system being hacked are a function of two variables:

a: how bad the hacker wants in
b: the skill differential between the admin and the hacker

Most porn sites are only hit by dumb robots, but a skilled hacker could root any porn site if he had reason to spend the time trying. IOW, dont piss off hackers.
