One of our webmasters who has made a darned nice living in this business has put a lot of great common sense tips down in the form of a blog. Do yourselves a favor and READ it, please! Great explanations and illustrations that will answer a lot of your questions even before you ask.

Nice, I wish I had read that before I started submitting...would have saved me a bunch of reject emails...:)

HowlingWulf 2009-06-22 11:34 AM

Hey thanks just noticed this thread. I'm only writing down my thoughts and experiences in the biz, coming from more of a TGP submitter background as that's how I started. Now I have to find the time to write more of these articles I have written down... and partner reviews. :)

Awesome advice

...and once you are done reading it, quit. Stop wasting your time. Wake up and realize that 99.267% of you will never earn anything even resembling a living while putzing around in this industry.

Don't listen to the naysayers!
All you have to do is find a sponsor that not only reports the hits you send them (good luck), but also converts those hits at say 1 sale per 100 hits
Then you build killer freesites that cause the surfers to click through to that sponsor at about a 50% rate
Build and submit those killer sites to about a dozen linklists that send you 300 hits a day each

Really, it is very easy to make money if you do the above
Why at that rate you can almost afford to go full time in this business :)

Some of us have found this to be a pretty darned cool hobby. I don't plan on getting rich with it, but down the road it would be nice to have a bit of mad money dropping in.

You will seriously work hard, but you will learn a lot of skills that will help you in other ways, like how to build a website, a bit of CSS and other techie things. Would I walk away? Nope. Been back almost a year now and still loving it. Is it my primary job? Heck no, nor do I expect it to be.

Now, if I weren't putzing around here, I would probably just be watching tv or eating bonbons. Which is healthier? Entertaining the mind, or vegetating?

Good god, you are a wise girl... my other choice would be staying in bed and waiting death. But in the wheelies, now being able to use my right hand only, this brings me out still. |thumb and |bow|

If this is the way you feel, why do you continue to hang around here? Just wondering.

To teach people how to properly quote someone within a post. Quote first, then reply.|thumb

It's not really a feeling. It's knowledge. The vast majority of affiliate webmasters will never put in the amount of effort required to make even a couple hundred bucks a month, let alone pay their bills, nor are they smart enough to do it anyway. I'm a lot more intelligent and hard-working than most of the people on this board, so I know enough to realize that the return isn't worth the effort. For a guy like me, there are much easier ways of earning a living.

I enjoy reading the newbie forum, and watching unsuccessful people giving false hope and advice to clueless others. I do love a good chuckle.

Also, being that I still own some self-propelled adult properties, I don't think that there's anything strange about me lurking about now and then.

By the way, my posts in this thread have nothing to do with HowlingWulf. He's a knowledgeable, hard working son of a bitch.

For the majority of people you are probably right. However there are likely one or two reading this right now who will end up making 2,000+ a month within a year or two doing this.

The truth is a bit in the middle. If you are starting now you are WAY BEHIND and you will have to work 5,000% harder and longer than someone who started in 1999. And it only gets harder with each passing year.

The reality is this. Are you prepared to spend 12 hours a day working your first month to barley make $100 -- if even that? Will you keep it up for the next year to have a decent chance of making $1,000 a month by the end of that year (although most of you will be lucky to make $200 a month after a year) ? If the answer is no and you are dong this mainly for money, do yourself a favor and get out. UW is right for you. But if you are willing to work like mad for the equivilent of $1 an hour for a year or so to be able to do this full time....step right up and try your luck and I wish you all the success in the world my friend! ... And yes, a lot of it is luck too. You might work everyday for two years straight and never make more than $300 a month.

The above is just the cold hard truth. And I wouldn't feel right lying.

Defienetly some good stuff there. I read part of it but need to read more of it.
