Adult Blog Headers

I've been looking at some of the blogs here and I'm wondering, do you make your own blog headers? Are there any good resources that are not too expensive?

I would like to get something a little fancier than what I have now, but want to keep it simple and clean looking....Any suggestions?

I usually just take a large ass picture and crop it to size, and place the header and desc text on top of it.

I've never seen the point in a big fat header image that has to load before everything else unless I can put a sponsor's link on it. I dont want my sites looking pretty like the sponsor site anyway. I tend to build utilitarian.

Do you use royalty free stuff, or maybe use sponsor images with permission or link?

Well, I think small and simple is best..but a nice graphic or image can really make a blog stand out, imo.

Inove - cool theme.

Nothing wrong with your site. Except you first top bnners in the sidebar overlap top-to-bottom in firefox 3.5and you need to fill the whitespace in the side bar with rss feeds.

Some of my Inove blogs:

Yeah, I need to move all that stuff in the sidebars to widgets...I used the editor for some reason.

Yes I'll use a sponsor image if I'm promoting mostly that site. Or paid content. You want something in the first screen load to capture the surfer's attention instead of him thinking 'oh another crap blog' and hitting the back button. A nice header can be 20-30k no big whoop.

walrus 2009-06-29 09:19 PM

I think I've seen him post here a few times as ecchi but he does great work and blog headers are only $10.00 and usually pretty fast.

He did Drunk Girls for me.

As for headers, sometime I will make something, sometimes I'll pick a theme that doesn't really need one and then, on occasions, I'll get one made.

Sorry, no pat answer from me. Sometimes I feel like a nut, sometimes I don't. But when I do feel like a nut, I usually give my extremely limited skills at building a graphic a shot and if I don't create something I like quickly, I go looking for ecchi

Thanks! That header is excellent...

Hey man, you're good...do you make headers for others?

NY Jester 2009-07-01 12:50 AM

LD, I have done a few for others yes. I try and keep them as simple as I can, but can get as detailed as needed.

I would gladly work with you.

Mr Spock 2009-07-01 02:21 AM

I also do my own headers , not as nice as Jetster's though.

Really like that font on hardcoresexangles - where can I get it and would you mind if I used it on one of my designs.

NY Jester 2009-07-01 03:39 AM

No problem Mr Spock. I get all my fonts at http://www.1001fonts.com/ the FOnt used in the word HARDCORE is called Dreamscar |thumb

Hey, please excuse me if I'm misinterpreting, but does this mean sponsors don't mind you using their free content for header images and the like as long as your promoting their sites? I just assumed free content could only be used if it was left in its original format? (excluding cropping)

BadWolf 2009-07-01 07:33 PM

I don't use headers. I may put a really nice sponsor banner up next to the site name or just under it, that's about it.

I crop images for thumbs, I crop images for banners, I crop images for headers. I even use their backgrounds sometimes. If it's all used to promote the sponsor they've never had an issue with it. And yes I've asked.

My blog has multiple sponsors. Still, I could ask I suppose.

I like to ad a nice touch to most of my blogs. I hire a cartoonist to make a drawing and my designer will create a header with a matching color skin. When I am on a budget, I use the same cartoon over, flip it horizontally and change the hair color of the girl :-) Overall, it will cost me around 60 bucks to have a custom blog design with nice drawing (that roughly equals 2 or 3 sales). Here is one recent example: Horny Asians

nate 2009-07-16 11:14 AM

My guess is that if you use a sponsor's image for a header, it better be clickable and take the surfer to that sponsor... unless that is the only sponsor you use for the site.

http://www.cuteasiangals.com/ use sponsor content on loan from a sponsor, but it also links to the sponsor. http://www.sexygothgirl.com/ is the same design, different sponsor.

A different design which I think is cool beyond fucking belief and a total bastardization of some poor theme-writers intent (You gotta love GPL) is the computer-browser version of http://www.teenage-sex.mobi/ . It uses retouched, cropped and combined banner ads as a sliding header, but once again since it is technically sponsor content, it all is linked to the sponsor's different sites.

I wouldn't even ask. :D

The most important thing about the header, no matter who provided the content or if it's linked to a paysite, is that it tells the surfer that he/she is most definately on a porn site, and that he/she has found what they were searching for. First impressions and all that shit.
