Java
I got a link exchange going with a site which is now using a Java Applet as the only navigation around the site.
All pages linked to by this applet have dropped to PR0. Which I guess is because Googlebot is blind to Java applets. The applet itself does not function in IE, Netscape or Mozilla... but works fine in Opera. Is this a firewall issue or is it older Java they're using? Because I've seen other applets not work past commercial firewalls, although I can see other site's applets fine.... or does this mean that Opera is more vulnerable than IE? |
It doesnt work in IE? and only in Opera?
What sort of applet is that.. I think the applet is stuffed or they implementaion of it is... DD |
There IS an issue with Jave and IE. It's due to all thatlawsuit crap between Sun and Microsoft. Most folks won't know to get the latest runtime directly from SUN and the older (MS) one is now broken.
The dude needs to kill the applet... Probably hasn't even surfed his own site lately to be sure everything is working... |
Thanks guys. :)
I've suggested he uses hyperlinks at the bottom of each page as a back up to the Java navigation. But I guess that "advice" from another webmaster sometimes hurts the ego. |
