To Download Or To Use Tube?
We're doing a survey for experienced webmasters on what you think works best for AdultsiteCMS to deliver in your paysite. We would like to discuss with you how presenting content helps in making your business profitable.
1. Is downloading videos an important part of delivery to members or would members simply prefer to watch on a tube site? 2. Do you think there will be an impending shift soon? 3. In this age of instant gratification, does viewing the content more important than keeping it? Is it really important nowadays that customers get to keep your content on their hard drives? Is this trend getting old? 4. If there are still more customers who prefer to download, which video format (e.g. AVI, WMV, DIVX, Real, MOV, MPG, MP4, etc.) do you use? And which do you think works best for you and are therefore, more important? 5. If your customers significantly prefer streaming, would it be efficient to use the ubiquitous Flash? Are there better software to use than Flash. |
in response to 5.
have a flash player that plays mp4. h264 is awesome. I think people also now like the iPod downloads, etc. All ready to be slapped on their mobile device. For the people on the road, etc. |

This has worked really well on the paysites that I manage. Also in addition to Flash streaming content it's important to have steaming QuickTime for iPhone/iPod users. Also member's like zipped content of the pics. |

iPod Width: 320, Height: 240 m4v extension On the latest site that I setup I'm using Flowplayer to make tube like member pages. I'm embedding a mp4 movie into Flowplayer. There are links under each movie for members to download whatever suites them best. This is what the directories look like, http://www.greenguysboard.com/board/...1&d=1251746275 |
Please keep on sending your comments. We would like to take these ideas under consideration when we start on the next version of the CMS.

to help protect your content ..you could stream it. makes it a little harder to download and redistribute.

I think most members want to be able to download content to their own computer. But offering flash and streaming might reduce the downloads and content distribution.

yes, people still want to keep the content on their hard disk. furthermore: if you DON'T let them download it - they will feel tricked. |

There wa a discusion about a year ago about the pros/cons of both downloads & streaming
Some people seemed to feel that FLASH tended to help rebills, and cut down on sharing http://www.gfy.com/showthread.php?t=849666 Personally I haven't seem a streaming flash player yet that wasn't jerky stop & go. At least with some of the other formats you could just wait until the file downloaded 100% and hit replay. |

usually , he doesn't because it's an impulse product, he looks at the preview trailer, a few preview images - then he either joins for moves on to another site that better suits he needs also depends on how savvy the surfer his. the big problem is what the surfer is used to. when he opens his account on YouTube he can get the content any time with no date expirations , not like the monthly memberships on paid sites - so he doesn't need to download. or he can download the video - there are many tools for that and firefox plugins etc. if the surfer also knows how download via p2p than you bet he can expect to get quality content to his hard disk if he so easily got low quality content for free on his hard disk. |
