Australia looking to block infected computers

On the wake of their internet filter nonsense they are now working on this. |crazy|

At first glance it seems to be a good ideal, but when one starts to look at the how to implement I can see some problems. |whisper|
- They will have to run some kind of program on your computer to test it.
- What will the program actually check for.
- Who controls what the program checks for.
- Can the program be hacked.
- What stops the government from slipping some monitoring into the program

On their censor list, It didn't take long to find out that they had more sites banned than what they indicated.

Would you actually trust a government to run their programs on your computer. |catfight|

Computers with viruses could lose their internet access
A new industry code that has been designed to control and prevent the spread of PC contamination throughout Australia could see any computer infected with a virus being refused access to the internet.

It has been reported that an operate-or-legislate ultimatum to identify computer systems that have become “zombie” computers and are being used for cyber-crime has been issued to the internet industry by the Federal Government.

Stop the country, I want to get off.

By the way, today is another thrilling day in the Australian fight against all things nasty. The owner of Abby Winters faces court over 56 charges of "making an objectionable film." This has never been prosecuted here before. Test case. Could go very badly. Am waiting to see if it will go to a full trial.

Sounds like a good idea but they also need to put chips in the people, cuz they need to make sure we dont have any improper thoughts, otherwise how will we be safe from the terroists :) I mean the evil bastards almost blew up detroit on xmas, then what would we have done :) We need to get rid of the faggot consitution wrtitten by commie pussies and impose martial law immedialty, otherwise the terroists win and we might lose fucking detroit too, then what i ask u all lol then what?? All i know is 2+2=5 and if you dont agree i have a gas chamber for you :)

All these things are being done to protect the children.

You should support these great initiatives being implemented by Chairman Rudd and the Christian Party. If you don't then you're un Australian and hate working families.

it would be unfair to those people not familiar with internet viruses.

Everyone has to move to linux and learn how to use a rootkit checker or they could lose their internet access. I suspect Microsoft will be happy to fund opposition to this law. XD

"Independant thought is dangerous.

Good citizens inform authorities when they suspect independant thought."

Funny thing is Aussies are so laid back, shit like this happens and happens easily. The net censorship we are about to inherit is really dangerous and so open to abuse i am amazed its made it this far.

We second, "At first glance it seems like it could be a good idea". Anything to help slow/stop, spam/zombie machines would have to be a good thing.

Some basic eduction on internet use, and basic computer safety, should/could be part of getting an internet connection. Its unbelievable how many people we have seen and or talked to over the time, that have not got a clue. Plug it in (pc), turn it on, surf away click on anything, anti virus/firewall, what's that..... each to their own.
