dot-XXX they're Baaaaacccckkkk!

Well it seems they won against ICANN(non-binding?), so here we go again.|catfight|

Yesterday an independent panel, the International Centre For Dispute Resolution (pdf) found in a 80 page decision, in favor of the ICM Registry against ICANN for its decision to eventually reject the .xxx extension and ruled that ICANN had to pick up all the costs of the independent panel to the tune of $475K and reimburse ICM the fees it paid for the application to the tune of another $241K. (ICM is stuck for its own attorney fees).

I doubt ICANN cares. They'll just pass it on to domain registrants in the form of higher fees. Fuck both ICANN and ICM. |2up

Ya, all they cared about was not being stuck with the bill of 1 more domain type.

I guess Lawley is getting impatient.

Quote:

ICM Calls on ICANN to Execute Dot-XXX Contract Immediately
On Friday, Lawley told AVN.com he expects ICANN to do exactly that—now, not at some nebulous point in the future. Lawley anticipates ICANN and ICM signing the fifth version of the domain-registrar contract—for all intents and purposes complete for three years, save for the signatures—when the organization meets March 7-12 in Nairobi, Kenya.

So is he ready to spend millions to take on the Aussi government(& others) to keep .XXX out of their filters?

Personally I don't plan on grabbing any of the .XXX versions of my domains. If he tries to sell them to somebody else there will be a war. Not just some iCann domain resolution, but full criminal & civil for infringement.
