It must have happened just couple of hours ago. I submitted a site this morning without any problems.

As soon as I saw that expired page I clicked the "renew domain" link to "save" the domain. But it said markslinks.com was already renewed..

I did a whois and it gives today as the update day and it also shows Dareuto as owning it still. :)

When I first saw it this morning as expired I tried to click the renew link to pick it back up for him but it said it couldn't connect to the database, it seems it was a problem with the registrar. I don't think the domain was actually due to expire. I tried again later to click the renew button and it said it was taken care of already. It's still not loading for me but I bet it's back up shortly since it's loading for some people and not others.

By "someone" I meant Dare...

You can't just pick up a recently expired domain anymore, they are held in a pending status for two weeks to two months, and only the original owner can renew them. This varies a bit from registrar to registrar, but is generally true.

What I was trying to do was to just drop a registration fee so he wouldn't lose his domain, if that is what was happening. I personally believe that the domain wasn't expired after all, it was just a fuck up.

I never knew that if you weren't the owner you couldn't drop a payment for someone. I know last time I looked it wasn't that way at Netsol and another one that I use... but I know most ppl don't use Netsol anymore anyway.

Anyway.. I don't think anyone was talking about jerking the domain away from it's owner... it was more like we were trying to do a friendly favor.

Yes and it shows the domain doesn't even expire until June 14, so WTF?

Not exactly sure what the hell happened today.

DNS for this one isn't up until June and pre schedule to renew in May.
