Whats Better?

When it comes to traffic from Search Engines. What is better? HTML pages or Blogs?|huh

ecchi 2010-03-07 01:31 PM

It depends on the content. A good HTML site will beat an average blog, a good blog will beat an average HTML site!! In other words, don't get hung up on the technical shit, just pick one and write good copy.

it doesn't matter.just do some SEO. and work on a unique content.

SEO Keywords and Meta tags

Mike-mijen 2010-03-08 09:25 AM

On my hub which is a blog I have All in One SEO Pack. It seems to keep the key words and meta fresh. I have had this up for a few years now and never seem to get much SEO traffic.

All in One SEO doesn't just magically bring rankings. It helps the SEO you do yourself.

HTML for me. Since the simpler the codings the faster the bots can read the pages. :D

That's no surprise as meta keyword tags have been deprecated by the search engines for 5+ years.

What are they looking for now?|huh

MY suggestion was to avoid wasting your time with meta keyword tags. I consider on page text/tags and inbound anchor links to be among the most important factors and would focus on those elements.

Coding errors can prevent the proper spidering of your site by search engines. If you haven't checked your site for coding errors, now would be a good time to start. W3 Validator

AAAARG! Your problem is that not only is (as other posts have said) software like "All in One SEO Pack" no damn good without additional work from the WM, it is actually extremely detrimental to your traffic if you are not working with it. Three important things to remember:

1) If your meta tags contain words that are not in your site text the search engines will see this as meta spam and penalise your ranking.

2) If you use a script that dumps keywords into the body of the page, remember that the big search engines are looking for this, they "test" the spread to see if it looks like it was written by a human or computer, they will penalise you if they think software did it (or if they think you wrote the text just to dump keywords).

3) Software is not human, it does not know or think, it just does what it is designed to do - this can lead to it making big mistakes. As an example, when I was new to WMing (way back in the 90s) I used a company who had software that analysed your site, compared it with similar sites that got high SE ranking, looked at those sites meta keywords and then inserted the ones it thought best into my sites (I.E. stole them, I am not proud of this - I was new at the time and was advised that this was the way it was done). Fortunately I checked the sites (I was not so green as to trust them). In my teen site it had added the keywords "child pornography" and "under age"!

If you are using any kind of SEO software, always only use it as a guide. Set it to send you a report, then use that report to guide what you do yourself. Never let it adjust your site itself, at best that is useless, and at worst it will be detrimental to your ranking. Remember, computers can do most things a lot quicker and more accurately than the human brain, but they don't actually think. And they act logically - but never confuse logic with common sense, which computers DON'T have.

Makes sense. I am thinking about re-doing my entire site and make it a HTML page rather then a blog. And try it that way and real analyze the text/tags and meta etc...

There are scripts/plugins that will dump your blog as html pages.

How does this work?

I use SSI, then a Perl program that reads my posts, ads the necessary HTML and writes it into the page.

Make sure you keep an archive of your original blog if you ever decide to switch back.
