using directories?

hello friends
i am new here just wanted to know that how many of you guys are using directory submissions to promote your sites?
thanks

Assuming you are talking about the general directories (not dedicated porn ones, which I tend to lump in with link lists):

If you mean paid submissions, tried that years and years ago, when I was really new to this and really green - waste of money, all you get is listed on piles of shit, no account directories.

If you mean buying software and doing it yourself - tried this too, it worked a bit for Google PR, most my sites went up by 1, but that's not a lot of use. And this was years ago, Google may have got cleverer and be able to filter out this type of spam (or worse, penalise you for it).

If you mean doing it yourself by hand, good luck - my experience with software submission showed that you gotta do several hundred a day, every single day, for this to work!

OH, just realised you posted this to spam your sig, not as a real question. In that case, anyone reading this - note what I said about paid submissions!

hmmm... ecchi... actually I think he may mean "we do directory submissions for others and I'm wondering if there are any clients to be acquired here?"

:)

P.S. I see you caught that before I was done posting.

:D

Yep this is a spammer.

He charges 150.00 to submit to those 150 shitty directories. About 1.00 per submit lol

Most of the time he creates these threads to lure you in.

Some of them will be pr3 link trades and when you contact him. He'll bait and switch you into his submission service.

I wish I had kept that auto submit software, it took less than three minutes to type in the details, seconds to click "submit" and then it posted the details to several hundred. I could undercut seoguyzzz and make a fortune.

I'm sure the software did at least 600 directories, so if I charged $300 for 600 I'd be half his price, and in a 36 hour working week I could do 720 lots. At $300 a pop that is $216,000 a week, or almost a million dollars a month! I'd be rich, and still half the price of seoguyzzz!!!

i did directory submission 3 years ago. and i realize it such a waste of time. and honestly i wont try to waste money on paid directory because there is many ways to generate back link.

I just use some blog directories. Others are the waste of time.

Elias 2010-03-22 06:35 PM

I use niche-specific directories for my blogs. Got some good traffic a few times.
