Google Ad words

Hi, Was wondering if you felt that purchasing Google ad words was still relevant in today's market.
Peace Mike|headbang|

ROIs/ratios are way down, but you can still make a few bucks with them.

But be very careful of their QualityScore bans. Check the AdWords forum at WebmasterWorld for more info about the bans.

Adult yes if you own the program or can get a high PPS.
Mainstream It's much, much easier to make a nice ROI.

A couple of weeks back I got an email from a mainstream client who was paying 50c per click on AdWords, sending them to sponsor's sites (main stream sponsor, paying less than $10 per sale). He contacted me because he could not understand why he was loosing money at this !!!!!!!!!!

Depends on your traffic. More traffic more chances of high Payout. :D

Depends on how much risk you can take on your business.

After purchasing adwords for 6 years I can say absolutely yes.
However it is an art and if you do not know what your doing and have the right product you can and will loose your ass.

Free DOS Tip.... in most cases dont bother buying ad words using an affiliate link... best return I saw on first time transactions was a 30% in profit.

I bet you purchase the letters of the alphabet as keywords too . . .

I picked up some sales using PPC (not Adwords , but a 2nd tier PPC platform) , got a $50 dollar voucher and PR $50 dollar payout - so that was a great ROI.

However I am not so sure how it would turnout on a normal payout and paying for every click - my main area of concern is that adult affiliate programs don't support pixel tracking and to make money with PPC you need to know which keywords are converting.

That makes sense.

My business used to use PPC as it's main source of 'quality' traffic, but eventually they all raised the cost per click to a point where I was just funneling money. Unfortunately I only seem to ever get signups if I get a TON of clicks and I'm listed in the first two spots of the first page, so while you can say pay less than 10 cents per click, mainly with less popular keywords, you end up getting pushed to later pages and there's only so much traffic you can get. Right now I'm trying to figure out a way to make it work for me. Something though I've always lacked is a proper way to tell what is leading to signups. I don't have one of them fancy "approval pages" to put a link on so I'm not sure what the alternative is, maybe setting up a affiliate account... not sure.

But uh, yeah, it's usually good traffic, but it's not cheap like it used to, and google likes to raise the minimum of keywords just cuz it can.

That used to be the case , but Google is getting competition from other PPC platforms , Facebook , PlentyofFish and PPV - so they no longer have it all there own way.

You need to have proper conversion tracking in place to know which KWs are converting - then its a simple matter of deleting the non-performing ones from your campaign and increasing your spend on the buying keywords.

Ok well that's good to know, I know last year I would make a minimum bid, and a few hours later the price would 'magically' increase. It felt like a form of abuse.

I was looking at google's conv analysis tool and it looks like now they actually track uniques over the course of a month? Good to see, now I can actually use it for some actual results by putting it on my members homepage.
