a product site(such as selling toys, whips, cuffs, ect..)
a directory type site
a link site(where you list others free sites or galleries)

a social networking site
a user based launch page
a online newspaper or periodical

a online shopping mall
a online dictionary
a online club/meeting site
a online news source
a online feeder
a hub of your own sites
a simple listing of sponsors according to your niche

twitter, although probably falls in the social networking site.

In addition to what has already been said, I still find pic posts a good source.
Link swap/traffic trading also brings me in good traffic to (via pump sites), but you really need to know what you are doing to make that work.
