proper mobile redirection
Does anyone have an idea on what the proper way to direct a surfer to a mobile version of your site? While working on a redo of my small link lists I was bringing into the picture making a mobile layout as well. just wondering what's the best way to go about things without getting the search engines angry.
thanx. |
Put a link to the mobile version.
I hate mobile redirects, like the one over at the MP Board. I installed iCabMobile on my iPhone so that I could spoof a desktop browser and get to the real sites of sites with mobile redirects but it's silly that I need to do this. |
I agree with Cleo. I use my mobile alot for surfing and I hate redirects. The only mobile site I like is for my bank. So this will give your users a choice.

Hmmm maybe i'll make it put something at the top of the page if it detects they are a mobile user. Insert some txt that just lets them know there is a mobile version then.

Don't use JavaScript as Google doesn't like it.
You can do it via PHP or .htaccess Here an official Google statement: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hK6wf...layer_embedded |
here you'll find redirect codes by different programs http://www.signbucksdaily.com/sites/list/show/mobile/
