I had about 17 domain names hijacked a while back, russian all over it, GoDaddy and law enforcement refused to help even after he tried to extort 7K for the return, I have all his personal information too, 40 hours of searching search engine cache brought me too him.

Seemed kind of foolish when he sent me this:

Hey Dr.B weren't you telling me about a doman name hijacking on drbizzaro a while back, I had proved the hack and they still never helped me, done deal now anyway but still holding grudges, lol.

Yeah, some asshole did it to me twice. One was back in 99 and then again in 2000. It totally sucked. I spent hours and hours on the phone with Networksolutions trying to straighten the whole mess out. The same people/person did it to a bunch of sites back then.

the guy who stole mine had stolen some 4 letter domain names form someone else and was selling them 3K a pop, it created a big uproar from buyers on some of the popular domain name message boards. They never identified the guy I did, I have multiple paypal accounts, ebay acocunts, emails, IP's (or proxies anyway,) free email accounts, alias', real name, real address, ICQ, I thought somebody whould be thrilled I tracked him, nobody could car less, I have 40 printouts linking him fomr one thing to the next, when brought to the authorites to report for fraud and cyber crime, regrettfully US is unknowledgable and ignorant to cyber threats, more so when its related to adult webmasters, fuck them anyway.

Scary things you ppl are saying here.... :-( I could only imagine how I would feel when such thing would happen to me while having my domain this popular as drbizarro ....

What are the ways to protect yourself (your domain) from beeing hijacked ?

Is there really a "safe" registrar out there?
I have all my domains with GoDaddy at the moment but they don't get a real good review here on the board. I'm thinking of moving my main domains to a safer registrar... but which one?

Most registrars now have an option to put your domains on a high secruity watch, basically the only way to pull it, has moree preventive options. I switched from those piece of shits at GoDaddys to DirectNic , I also have some with regirster.com and new.net

I had no idea this domain of MML's & mine was so popular :D

My guess is that this is just a foolish attempt to put together some sort of webmaster spam list, that would eventually be sold for $.

Actually, he bought a website from a good friend of mine about 2 months ago. IMHO he paid way too much for it as well.

I have alot of domains and he approached me about one of my better ones. I don't think this has anything to do with gathering an e-mail list.

I'm just curious if anyone has responded to him with a price, and if they've received a reply.
