Article writing, what's it all about?

I hear people talking about getting traffic by writing articles and posting them to article sites.
But how exactly does such an article look like and where do you submit them?

This is one of the main article directories http://ezinearticles.com/

While article directories do provide some traffic you should use them for syndication. Any articles you write should be posted to your site first. You should let google index the article on your site and then submit them to the directories.

Some article directories will let you post links in the article body but most want the links in the arthur bio that comes at the bottom of the article.

Generally an article should consist of 500 words or more. It should be well written and not promotional. It should be informational for best results.

When picking a topic for an article I like to use a keyword I want my site to rank for. I will put this keyword in the title, first sentance and last sentance. I will also try to put it throughout the article without making it sound to keyword spammy. I like a keyword density of around 2 to 3 percent.

There is a lot more too it but this is a good start. I will see if I can find my list of article directories and post them here.

Article writing works fairly well to an extent. I still get traffic to my one blog from an article I wrote years ago. Not huge traffic, but it does help with SEO.

There are lots of article directories which accept articles. Like Ezine, goarticles.

Benefits of Article Writing is

1)It helps you in gaining search engine ranking, getting your article approved in top article site like ezine really helps you in search engine ranking.

2) Helps you in getting clients, your clients will get impression that you have knowledge of subject.Chances of getting clients are higher.

Your not quite right here. Getting an article approved is not going to help you tremendously in your search engine rankings. While the site its self may have a high pr the page that your links are on will have no pr at all. All you are getting is a link from a site that has millions of pages full of people doing the same thing as you. You might as well spam some blogs if your looking for seo juice. If you want to spend the time backlinking your article then you might get some seo bennefit out of it. Wasting your time backlinking your articles instead of your own site is just shooting yourself in the foot.

The reason why articles are good for seo is because other people will syndicate them to their sites. If you dont think about syndication when doing article marketing you will be left holding your dick in the wind the next time google does a major algorithim change. As this is what happened with the last change.

That's something I've been wondering. How big of a hit was the Panda update on mainstream affiliate marketing?

The overall hit was not very bad. The hit mostly affected the article directories. There was a marketing technique call bum markerting. This basically told you to get a frew .info domains and forward them to an affiliate landing page. THere where a lot of people doeing this just trying to get into the bix and what not.

When enzine lost a ton of their traffic these people lost a lot of revenue. This is the way they srtarted thier business, and you could imanigen what happen to them.

Even though ezines did gain some traffic back over the next few months it should have made these people gtfo or reinvent a new plan.

This was one of the major hits that I saw as far as affilites.

I have also seen quite a bit of reports (complaints) that peoples auto blogs have taken a hit. I have a couple myself buy didnt notice much of a change.

So basically bigger companies with way way to much content seemed to get hit to certain extents which affect the affilites that use them for traffic method.

I have my own thought about douplicate content be used in another algo change.

It see with each change that haapens they are solwly going towards the area of dublicant content.
