Anyone ever do an idea like the following:

From http://www.pecash.com/html/testimonials.html

http://www.milliondollarboobs.com/

"This is, by far, the most novel and innovative site we've seen in some time. The idea is simple: People pay a $25 submission fee to place pics of their boobs on milliondollarboobs.com, a portion of the fee is placed into a prize jackpot. Surfers vote for the their choice of boobs and the top-rated rack wins the million dollar jackpot."

I don't mean as far as the specifics, but the idea of getting Amateurs to pay us to display content then offer rewards?

Is this feasible business wise? What springs to mind is that each entry would require 2257 documentation.

I think $25 is way too high. Something like $10 or under would bring more submissions.

It seems they have a fair number of stock photos planted so real potential submitters feel more comfortable.

I feel I have the ideal platform for this sort of idea...if it's doable.

Is it doable or rife with too many gotchya's?

Contests are usually regulated state to state, and a lot of states have fairly stiff rules for running contests and paying winners. Running a contest might get you looked at by the law. Internet contests are in a greyer area.

You should definitely do your research into the laws governing contests in your state, and doublecheck for federal regulations.

Sounds like a scam doomed to failure or worse.

You're better off letting people enter a contest like that for free and encouraging them to send their friends to vote for them. Word of mouth will spread and you will make good cash from your amateur advertisements that you put all over the site.

Then you can offer a small weekly prize ($25 gift certificate, a free month to a porn site, a dvd, whatever) or a big annual prize. Stay away from cash and talk to your lawyer for the legalities of holding contests like this.

I'd be worried about 2257 as well as licenses to use the content. I can send you pics of "my wife's boobs" right now, along with paperwork stating that you have permission to use the pics.

Of course, the pics would not be of my wife & the paperwork would be forged :D

I'd be very careful about dfoing something like that (even if it is a fantastic idea)

I used to do amateur submissions and it was a nightmare. If 10 people would send me pictures, only 2 of them would take care of the paperwork. And there were always people that changed their minds once someone they knew saw the pictures. I had it going for about a year and I would never do it again.

I used to run/co-own an amateur site that used 100% submitted pics. The guy who started it lives in Germany. I used to exspress my concern about 2257 compliance to him all the time. He viewed it as a bridge to cross when he came to it.
He still has the site opened (on US servers no less) and still no 2257 on at least the vast majority of that site (its been awhile since I last visited it.)
But there are several submit your pics amateur sites out there that have monthly contests for the submitted pics and they all seem to do well. But last time i checked they didnt have a fee that someone had to pay.
if that works its genius LOL

Hmm. OK. Way too much hassle and potential bad stuff- methinks. ;)

Thanks for all the replies...that's why I'm here. |thumb
