Preferred image dimensions ?
 

What image sizes would you say that most webmasters prefer seeing thumbnails linked to for both portrait and landscape images?
I know that many of the browsers auto-resize the larger images, but they seem to distort some when this occurs. Any opinions? -Thx

First thing I do when I get a browser that offers to resize images is to turn this feature off.

I'll accept anything over 500 on the longest side.

500 on the long side does look tiny to me on my monitor. I tend to make mine 650+ on the longest side.

yup ditto, and for thumbs i would say anywhere from 75px on the long side (which is quite small) to 150px on the long side (which is quite big). i like mine around 100 on the long side

Shoot for 1000 total pixels when you add up 2 of the sides - that's my rule of thumb when I'm building (even though I do accept pics that are 500 on one side which menas the other site is usually 350-375)
