Linking

Like all adult-webmaster subjects, there are various views on them.

I've been using LinkSpun for trading. I have been a tiny tiny tiny bit picky about what I'd let true, but I realize that I maybe(???) should've been at least picky. (maybe even Quite picky?)

What are the views on this board on the subject linking?

Should I clean up, get a bit unpopular (by some) at LinkSpun and go for mostly good, similiar Niche sites?

(And at the subject;
Since a growing number of sites I own now get links back to link-o-rama, what will the advantage become at google? 1000? |virgohippy|)

Thanks for reading

I'm on LinkSpun & I'd guess that 90% of the trades I make on there are "mostly good, similiar Niche sites"

I usually trade with Niche specific sites as well. I have a few trades from when I first signed up that are lower quality, but not too many. I would rather trade with handwritten blogs as that's mostly what I have to offer on LinkSpun.

If you're looking for new trades you'll have to check out my profile. I much rather prefer trading with people that post on here.

Add me to the list that can be found on Linkspun.

I generally am picky... Since I took over admin duties there I have notice a HUGE drop in "spammy" requests. I think they are basically hiding from me. Before that I used to deny about 70% of requests without even having to look at them. Their keywords looked like:

Porno
Ficken
Teen
Teen Sex
Porn
Sex
Sex Cams

etc...

Now I mostly get decent requests... But you can block users, which I do often, by clicking on their nick and select Block User from the right side panel. Lately my block list has been growing so much that I think I am going to code something into the site to be able to block someone right from the request checking screen.

Out of those that I look at I am primarily trying to see if their site has real content, is updated and doesn't have tons of the above links...

|headbang| I like that idea. I get a lot of one word anchor requests as well as people requesting higher PR sites from me, but when I look at their site selection they only offer 2 or 3 PR0 websites to trade with.

Greenguy 2012-03-01 12:06 AM

OH! I love when I get a request from one of the 3 PR4's that I have, only to see that they only have 1 page that's a PR0 |lol|

Agree... linkspun is nice for trading :D

I get a lot of request from one page webcam sites whose only content is hosted iFrames and the like, with one or two word anchor text like 'webcams' or 'webcam girls'. Surprisingly, some of these have decent PR.

ristac 2012-03-08 07:56 AM

I have some very high ranking sites with decent traffic with low PR (like everyone I guess) and it does get annoying when many traders go only by the PR score and nothing else.

Due to mass spammy requests all my PR3 sites are hidden to prevent any incoming requests to them, this has a downside when I place my own outward requests as those I am seeking trades from cannot see my higher ranked names.

I wish when placing a request there was an option to 'unhide' your hidden domains for particular requests.

ristac - if you favorite a user, they can see your hidden sites/pages.

After spending some time on Linkspun, I am wondering about how to select trades. Should I go for relevance and a good site, even if the PR is 0? I tend to prefer relevance, but am I hurting myself if I get a link from a 0 to a PR2?

Greenguy 2012-03-08 06:11 PM

I go for the same or very similar niches - as far as PR, I only take that into account when deciding what pages to link to on a trade as I doubt a PR0 to a PR2 has a negative impact.

The Epic 2012-03-09 01:47 AM

A lot of my PR0 sites have gone up pretty quick in PR so I can see why going for specific niches on good quality sites can be well worth while too. I think a lot of people put too much emphasis on PR although I must admit I don't regularly give a link from one of my PR2 or PR3 sites in exchange for a PR0, but it all depends on the situation.

What about English-German (or other non-English) sites? My site is English, most visitors are US and Canada, but I am getting lots of trade request from German sites. The sites look good, but...???
