Drop down lists
This is my first post here. Looks like a good board.
I have a question. I have spent the last couple of weeks going through my programming books and have tried dozens of experiments and permutations. Has anyone found a way to create a drop down box with links that SEs can follow? Frustrated, scottb |waves| |
Hi scottb, welcome to the board. :)
In answer to your question no I haven't. |

Thanks Jim and Cleo,
It is nice to feel welcome. But I am still frustrated with my question on drop down lists. I can not figure how to get an "href" associated with the JavaScript involved with a drop down list. I thought I had it worked out in VBS but that is pretty web worthless. scottb |spaceship |
Hi scottb |waves| welcome to the board :)
I haven't found a searchable one yet. |
Our Newsletter Archice is a drop down list & the links have been picked up in Google.

Greenguy,
My JavaScript code for the drop down box is similar to yours. The differences are minor. When I run my code through a search engine analyzer such as Sticky Sauce, the links do not appear. I am trying to develop an href link that will respond to the JavaScript. I think your links are being found somewhere else and not at the drop down box. scottb |spaceship |
Actually, I don't think the newsletters are linked up any place other than the archive page (which has the drop down menu)
Each time a newsletter is sent out, the old one is saved as "newsletter/newsletterXXX.html" & the new one is uploaded to newsletter.html - so the links to the html pages are not link to from any place else on the site. Doing a search in google on greenguysboard.com for "templates" brings up 5 pages of results - on the 3rd page: http://www.google.com/search?q=site:...&start=20&sa=N is a newsletter about the proper use of templates - so it does work :) |
Greenguy,
If you don't mind I will copy your code and change the domain referrals. The minor nuance differences may be the solution. I had to make an ugly page at http://jizz-masters.com because the SEs would not see the links. I would rather have a drop down box. scottb |spaceship |

http://www.google.com/search?num=50&...ewsletter.html http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&i...com+newsletter and those that are are hard linked from elsewhere... http://www.greenguysboard.com/board/...tes+newsletter At this point Google does not index links in javascript dropdown menus.. I believe this is possibly going to change. DD |
