LOL, power supply popped on my main work machine, a hassle but such is life
 

My main machine went CRACK and flash on weds - my sweeties birthday too - and my backup systems were pretty deficient.

On the plus side, I bought a new laptop to have as my main backup, replacing an old dell with win XP and shitty connectivity.

Butt his would have been a lot easier if I had a good backup on an external drive - doh. Always meant to get to getting one and using it, never did it.

I have handled this in the past by popping the drive in an enclosure, and using USB connection to throw stuff to the new dive - but I forgot - the new machine is a sata the enclosure I had was only IDE.

So, bought a sata/ide enclousure for 3.5 drives, that worked nicely once I got the delivery from tiger direct.

And a nice new power supply, which seems to be installing smoothly. I dont want to crank her up until I have finished shuttling files from the sata in the enclosure to this new laptop.

Crazy - not having a computer is so uncomforrtable, even tho I had bought the new one pretty quick, a virgin computer is fairly useless. Glad to see myself regaining my powers and tools again.

woot! new power supply, so far she's purring like a kitten....

It's always a bitch when something like that happens, good to see you could fix it in the middle of the night :)

Computer issues suck green donkey balls.

I do have an external backup drive, but this is a good reminder that I need to get my laptop current with my desktop so I can remain operational should it become necessary to replace/repair the desktop.
