Waking up to a chilled 1st Sunday of March 2013.

It's in the forties here this morning. Way too cold for my Floridian ass.

My spa mainstream client is still driving me crazy. Yesterday they had me buy a theme from Theme Forest and use a logo provided by the manager's boyfriend. Theme wasn't too hard to work with, just a few adjustments to the css file and everything was displaying correctly. Personally I dislike the new look but it isn't up to me. The theme has a slider so I sent them over to Shutter Stock to pick out some stock photos so that I can get the slider working since it needs more than one image to start sliding.

Had planned on going surf kayaking today but it is way too cold for that so probably just going to get some office work done and watch movies.

Dealing with clients is the biggest reason I quit doing web dev for others. It's either site design by committee or they're slower than molasses at getting you content or.... just got to be more of a headache that it was worth.

Good afternoon,

Played some soccer yesterday, we won with 0-2 from the #1 team in our league, that was fun :)
I'm going to watch another soccer game in a few minutes, just waiting for my gf to get out of the shower so she can watch the kids :D

Have a good day all!

Good morning. Up early taking a friend to the airport. Looking to add some blog entries today and start thinking about money making possibilities.

@Cleo, I feel your pain. I hope they're paying you well. My biggest complaint is that small business customers don't have much money but expect the world.

Have a good one! |thumb

Good Sunday My 100x100 Sized Friends |waves|

Well, the good news is that I was Aspartame free yesterday |thumb The bad news is that, starting around 2 or 3 PM, I just felt exhausted for the rest of the day :( Coincidence? I guess I'll find out over the next few days :)

My beloved Sabres, who fired their 16 year coach 5 games ago, are on a nice little 3 game win streak! I'll be watching to see if they can make it 4 tonight against The New York Rangers - who I truly & completely |angry| And hopefully it's 8 in a row when Ramster comes down to visit in 2 weeks |bananna|

Speaking of win streaks, Chicago, who plays Detroit at 12:30 on NBC, is on a nice little point streak of their own: 21 games to start the season without a regulation loss (you get 1 point for an Overtime or Shootout loss) They are 18-0-3 this season & broke the record for most games to start a season with at least 1 point 4 or 5 games ago. 39 out of a possible 42 points! Even if you're not that interested in hockey, turn on NBC around 12:30 & just let it sit in the background while you work - I guarantee you'll turn your head to see some action at least 4 times :D

In closing, if you ever need to know what time it is, you can always ask Ron Jeremy :D

I saw that thread yesterday. Like Ramster, I drink a lot of water (with lemon). Good luck being Aspartame free!

I actually looked on my iPhone, in iCal and then asked Christy first. |fools|

But as cold as it is here this morning I wasn't sure if I was still in South Florida.

Cleo the page is broken on ie8 even when turning in protection off.
As you can see in my screenshot...
I'm not sure if the overlay is working correctly for as you can see it covers all but the very top of the background, but it does scroll fine.
Is that supposed to be transparent or at least translucent overlay?
If it is supposed to be solid black the gray font is hard to see

Also the text on the page is running out of the box

That what it is supposed to look like with the overlay. (ugly isn't it)

To see it without the overlay go to the root. The root has a slideshow once more than one image is added but right now there is only the sample image that the theme came with.

Will have to look into the text being cut off though.
(that is unless the client decides on another theme before I finish getting this one working)

Good morning world |waves|

Nice chilly one down here too...although only mid-50s overnight and in the mid-60s today.

I do feel your pain, Cleo. In fact, when I "left mainland USA" behind and moved down to Key West in the late 90s I promised myself that I'd no longer seek out or accept clients with whom I could have a face-to-face meeting. For me, nothing is a bigger waste of my time than to have to sit there and discuss the details of a project with someone whose ideas I think are completely ridiculous and whose logic is lacking in many ways but who's paying the bill.

I've only broken my promise a few times, and in those cases the payout was very good, the clients were reasonable people, and I was given the free reign to do things my way that I said was a requirement at the start of negotiations.

Of course, with the economic situation in online adult marketing the way it is today, it's really hard to turn away any work that pays well. This really isn't the time to be saying "no" to opportunities to earn. So I usually just quote a very high rate for the project and let them say no instead. And when I get a surprise "yes" at least I know I can spend some of the money on things that help make the pain go away. |loony| |potleaf|

Wishing a good first Sunday of a month that begins with MA to all.

Could you check the Home page again. I think I found the problem and fixed it.

Also I lightened up the overlay (not sure if the client will be happy about that) since it was just too ugly that dark.

Simon 2013-03-03 01:15 PM

Cleo ... maybe on the home page, services and about pages, you could crop the background differently so that the part that's in focus is at the top instead of having the blurred out part up there? Or maybe you'll be able to solve that issue when your client chooses the (probably all wrong for that theme) additional images from Shutter Stock.

:)

The background image doesn't work for this layout. Can't really crop it though since it is a full screen image when you go to the root of the site.

Can't wait for the client to start sending me 150x150 pixie images or something like that to use as the background images. |banghead|

On the plus side I'm charging by the hour and the client seems to have deep pockets.

Looks better now, though I'm not sure why the services is greyed out compared to home, about us, and contact...perhaps because it links to a dropdown menu?
Also on the home page a slight error, I believe there should be a space here
serenity.Stonewater

Still fugly though lol

Typo fixed. Thank you :)

Services was completely hidden until I made it so that it was showed somewhat without being moused over.

It's the new wonderful world of interface design. Everything is hidden for no reason at all and text is almost the same color as the background because that way you have to hunt for everything and who needs to be able to actually read anything anyway.

Give it a few weeks and I'm sure the client will have me make it even worse.

It's the same group of folks that tortured the web designer that built this website for their restaurant. Frames all over the place. New windows for no reason. I do the updates for it now after the designer quit. It's a real joy having to open a dozen pages in order to make one small change. It's great, sometimes they have me change things back and fourth multiple times in one day.

Good night. Had a fun weekend in SD, LA, and Huntington beach. Went surfing in SD Saturday morning from dawn until around 10:30. Ran home to get ready to drive to LA to hang out with friends and go to the UCLA vs UofA basketball game. Saw Bill Walton while leaving the Pauley Pavilion walking holding a chair over his head. Possibly he used it to sit on? I know he has crazy pain issues. Went to a nice dinner in Venice Beach. I had a incredible southern fried chicken sandwich.

Today I dropped my lady off at a baby shower and I went to the beach. I spent most the time in the car with the windows down working on some programming. Got a bunch of stuff handled. After that got home and have just been on the couch eating dinner and watching tv. Now it's time to crash.

Just started reading "Neuromancer." How I haven't read this yet is beyond me. Rad Cyberpunk reading tonight. |thumb
