Cool parade that celebrates the nisei group, 2nd generation of Japanese in the US. These are children of immigrants.

Its a fun day. Beauty queens, veterans, traditional food.

These girls are recording artists for a local label I believe.

Tanabata Festival
 

These are known as Tanabata huge colorful streamers. One day a year Japanese celebrate/commemorate this event either July 7 or August 7th.

Its a Confucius thing originally. When it migrated to Japan they added calligraphy practicing to it.

The story is two lovers in the heavens finally became husband and wife. After the marriage they quit working and just laid around and fucked. The God of the Heavens (Milky Way) was pissed so he separated them and only allowed them to see each other 1 day per year as punishment.
