Hump Day Is This Day (Sep-25-2013)

Good morning.

I think I successfully fended off a bad cold. I am feeling well today.

My |crazy| daughter turns 19 today. That's the legal drinking age in Ontario so we'll be taking her out to dinner where she can order a drink |cheers|. I know she's had a lot of practice already. ;) After that she's off to hang out with her friends and my wife and I are off to the theatre. We are seeing John Cleese who is touring with his Last Time To See Me Before I Die show. In his honour, one of my favourite sketches:

Have a great day! |thumb

Becomes this:

HUMP DAY!!

Oddly enough, the only running I have to do today is go to the chiropractor sometime this afternoon. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing yet.

So, I'll be working my fingers to the bone catching up on a shitload of work...fingers crossed!

In conclusion, please |fonz| your Hump Day! |bananna|

Must be cold season. Both Christy and I have mild ones.

Spent all day yesterday in bed with my leg elevated above my heart on a heating pad. Besides aspirin and rat poison also started taking Serrapeptase. Today I have a weak pulse in my bad leg so I'm optimistic that I'll be able to avoid another hospital stay, but will have a few weeks of painful recovery

Didn't get any work done yesterday so lots of catching up to do today. Plus I got this redo design job yesterday so going to start cleaning it up while waiting for some customer provided graphics.

Really what I want to do is to go back to bed...

ArtWilliams 2013-09-25 08:42 AM

Thanks Cleo for the tip. I hope you continue to have a pulse. :)

Good Day :)

Just a bunch of random work to do today as I deal with my back and neck pain from yesterdays work. Was able to cut the walkway into three more pieces and move them out of way, that's when the back gave out. Next will be removal of roots, prep ground, putting concrete slabs back into place and then patching all the cuts. Oh the joy.

Cleo, good to hear you are able to skip the hospital. I mentioned here a ways back my son ended up in ER. Severely dislocated thumb from an accident, they ended up having to put him under, after a couple of tries, to get it back into place. Total bill $5700 and the poor boy doesn't have insurance.

Fucking Insane!

I know from the last time this happened that it will be 120k billed to insurance with a 15k copay if I end up back in. :(

JustRobert 2013-09-26 01:08 AM

Holy crap Cleo, 120K??? Then again 5700 for my son then it makes sense, not really, how much yours is. I guess that's why we are #1 in healthcare....OH Wait....according to this report we are #46.

Thanks but I'm not that insane and I am actually taking Warfarin.

Simon 2013-09-26 09:49 AM

Cleo - I'm sure you know that warfarin has a pretty narrow therapeutic range, and the correct dosage is based on things like weight, age, INR, diet, genetic and racial heritage, etc.

Here's a link to a site where you can enter that information if you want to verify that your prescribed dosage is correct...

I agree |scared| I don't have the exact numbers, but I know that BOTH of my back surgeries, as well as the infection in the incision on the 2nd one, cost around $50k.

I know that not everyone has it, but I've been thanking |buddy| for the last few years that I can afford Health Insurance.

I'm monitored and my INR is kept around 3.5 which is considered rather high.

My only options at this point is to try stuff at home or check back into the hospital.

The hospital will put me in the ICU and first ultrasound my leg. Then do a CAT scan. Then do a MRI. Then do an angiogram at which time they will put a catheter in my leg and put me on thrombolytic drugs for a few days. Then do another angiogram and at that time also do an angioplasty. Then after a few more days send me home. Then bill my insurance around 120k and send me copay bill for around 15k. Then if I don't figure out a way to pay the 15k within a year put yet another judgement against me.

So in the end I would maybe get leg improvement again for maybe a year or two. Receveive another mega dose of radiation and have to wait another 7.5 years for a new judgment to fall off my credit report.

But on the plus side the republicans are doing everything they can to block Obamacare since our present medical system is so fucking perfect.

JustRobert 2013-09-26 12:25 PM

I personally have had health insurance all my life thankfully. I was a little pissed off when I found out my son did not and told him how lucky it was only a thumb. If his knee would of been blown out 30K easily. Emergency/high deductible insurance is a necessity with how expense this stuff is.

Same here. I use to pay for it myself but now I get a much better deal by being under a company plan of a company that I'm part of.

But I watched my rates go up and up along with my copays for anything except a doctor's office visit become insane.

Check what you out of pocket expenses are for a hospital stay along with all the tests and other stuff that you would receive and most likely you will be shocked.

When I had my heart scare last year I was a bit shocked how much I had to pay out of pocket and I was able to refuse overnight stay so I am kinda scared to ask the wife, who I am under.

Broccoli is on my forbidden list as it is high in vitamin K.

I'm a fucking vegetarian that isn't suppose to eat what I've always have been told is healthy. There is a certain irony to that.

Last time I went on the rat poison diet I ended up super anemic.
