National Do Not Call Registry Now Lets You Report Text Spam!
I don't know about any of you, but since I 1st heard about it, I've been registered with & used the National Do Not Call Registry. The amount of telemarketing calls has dropped, and it does give me a feeling of pride (and revenge?) every time I report one of these fuckers!
They were down during the Gov't Shutdown, so I kept track of the 3 I recv'd during that time & went to report them this morning. Well, I just happened to notice that you can now report Junk/Spam Text Messages!! |bananna| So, sometime in the very near future, I'm going to go back thru all my text msgs, find the ones these new type of assholes have sent me, and report their sorry sack-of-cunt asses!! |thumb This is just another one of the myriad of Public Service Announcements that Greenguy's Board has brought to you over the last 10.5 years. |
I'm just so happy that iOS 7 finally lets us block numbers.

I don't know what's happening the the States but it Canada it's become a free for all. There is a loophole for surveys. It's meant to allow for public opinion polls but now land line spammers use it daily to tell me I've won a boat cruise. Also, because they're located in India, the call centers don't give a rat's ass about our "do not call" laws and just call anyway. I don't pick up the phone unless I know the number. Thankfully no text spam here ... yet. :(

2nd, the rules for our Do Not Call list are pretty simple: They can call you if you've done business with them in the past. Otherwise, you can report them |club| |
Since the foreign call centers don't seem to care about the Do Not Call Registry, I created one new address book entry called "Spammer" to be used for all of them. Then whenever I get a call from a new number, I just add that number to the Spammer contact. I have that contact set to automatically send all calls to voicemail so I never even hear it ring. Once in a while I dump any voicemails they left (they almost never do) and purge any appearances of that particular contact name from my call log.
I may not be able to keep them from calling, but at least this way I don't even have to look at my phone when it rings to see who it is. :) |
I'm on the Do Not Call list but still receive calls.. Depending on my mood sometimes I like to fuck with them and waste their time..
most of the time I don't answer though.. I may try what you do Simon and see if that helps as I still get several calls a day for some bullshit or another.. |bullshit| and the text messages I get too.. Thanks for the tip GG that those can be reported as well.. I get tired of the fuckers too.. |
In the past I have pretended to be a gay sex premium line. I talk dirty to them then act confused when they try to sell me something.
