It's The 1st Tuesday Of The Olympics & I Already HATE NBC!

I love the Winter Olympics. I also like watching major sporting events LIVE on my big ass 70" HDTV. NBC doesn't feel the same way |angry|

Snowboarder (and probably the most famous US Winter Olympian at the moment) Shaun White goes for his 3rd consecutive Gold Medal in the Men's Halfpipe event at 12:30 PM ET, something that no US athlete has ever achieved (a Gold Medal in the same event in 3 consecutive Olympics, that is)

What is NBC airing at that time?

And, even though I've not been seeking out results to events that NBC will be airing 10-12 hours later, it's hard to not just stumble upon them while you're doing your thing online during the day |angry|

Back to work until I depart to the couch to watch Canadian TV |fonz|

Since we have close to no winters here we don't have any serious winter olympians. Snowboarder Seppe Smits was the only hope we got for a medal but he ended 0.25 points short to reach the finals in the Slope Style event.
Still doing the big demolition job, I think it will be a month before I finish there. Got 5 people working for me now. I feel important :D

I've always said the CBC has had the best coverage of the Olympics, ever since the '76 games in Montreal. They put nearly all of their otherwise rather useless programs aside completely during the games and show events as they unfold continuously for upwards of twenty hours a day.

Too bad about Shaun White though. Too bad about our guy McMorris as well, both those guys had injuries, both heavily favored to win their events, and both came up short. But the Aussies, damn, they're kicking some ass. Twenty years ago if someone said "Hey, there's going to be this new winter event called snow-boarding, and Australia is going to win a bunch of medals in it at the Olympics" most people likely would have laughed. Well they ain't laughing now. :D

Seeing as NBC was airing some sort of wine gadget infomercial at 7:00 last night, I turned on CBC to see some actual Olympic coverage. They spent a good 45 of the 1st 60 minutes covering the US vs Russia hockey game, because it was THAT GOOD! And Ron MacLean is SO much better at hosting these major sporting events than Bob "My Lover Blew A Load In My Eye" Costas or anyone else that NBC throws up there (OK - Dan Patrick is kinda good - but I think they stuck him on the overnight shift)

I go to CBC 1st to see what they're airing, which is usually live during the day, before I bother to look at any of NBC's 4 Olympic channels. I have it on now for the Canada vs Finland hockey game |thumb

I'd say that we also need a British one, but if I did and you went to the trouble of designing one with the current UK flag on it, you would get pissed with me if Scotland voted for Independence next year and you had to redo the damn thing with the new UK flag (the current one is a combination of the English and Scottish flags so would become invalid if Scotland left the Union).

So I guess you had better do one with the George Cross (English flag), one with the Scottish Saltire (Scottish flag), one with a Y Ddraig Goch* on it (Welsh flag), the Saint Patrick's Saltire (Northern Irish flag), and the Ulster Banner (The Irish Unionists flag - not an official flag but they will either kneecap you or wire a bomb up under your car if you leave them out).

Oh and then there is the Gibraltan flag, the Falklands flag, the British Virgin Islands flag, and the flags of any other British dependencies that are lying around.
