Well, It's Saturday (2014-12-20)
 

Good morning.

It's clean up and clean out day for me. My wife and I are building a house and it should be ready late spring. I promised myself that I would not leave it to the last minute to get rid of 13 years of accumulated crap. Time to make a garage sale pile.

Yesterday, I did a Joomla CMS upgrade. Technology is funny. The upgrade failed until I read about people having to remove some obsolete files from a directory manually. What was perplexing is the file were not even being used. The mere existence of them caused the upgrade not to work. Ok, whatever.

Finally, stats on my porn blog are not working so I'll have to contact my host before I start to submit.

Good Morning :)

Was up way to early (4am) to help my wife pack the car and see her off as she goes visit family for the weekend. Since I was up I decided to start working and now, a few hours later, I see a nap happening any minute now.

It was get up, put on old ugly clothes, get out te chainsaw, and do yard work in my front yard so that I could make a pile for Monday's bulk trash pickup.

Now I'm sitting here recovering from playing yard-woman.

Have a friend coming over this afternoon to watch a movie and then a Xmas party tonight.

I might even do some work today... or may not.

First day of 2 weeks holiday. About time, the offline work year has been good for my wallet but not so for my body. Time for some rest :)

I stayed over at a friend's house last night and has a shitty bit of sleep on her couch, so I think I will spend far too much time napping today. After that, some Xmas shopping since I haven't done any yet.

Had a long conversation with a friend I haven't spoken to for a long time. He is gradually getting his life back together after being screwed over well and truly. He was fired, he thinks unjustly, and the friend of a friend of his offered to help. However he did not help. He systematically robbed my friend. Not only took all his money and lost him his house, he also tricked his pension fund into allowing him to withdraw the whole amount as a lump sum, then ran off with it. And when my friend lost his home, he convinced him to put all his valuables and sentimental stuff in storage, then systematically stole the lot! The bastard also tricked my friend into selling stuff he had stolen from other's through my friend's eBay account. So that when the police discovered this, it was my friend they tried to arrest (fortunately, by then he had discovered the rest himself, and reported it to another force, so managed to clear his own name).

For a while my friend ended up broke and homeless, sleeping in a bus shelter. Last time I spoke to him was about a year ago. He at last had a roof over his head (state housing) but was still borderline suicidal and made it quite clear that he did not want to talk to anyone, he just wanted to be left alone. I gave in to his wishes, because I was afraid of pushing him over the edge. So it was a relief when he 'phoned me this morning and talked for about two hours. He appears to be cheerful enough, had even started trying to get work again. Hopefully he will be up to going out for a drink or something in the new year.
