Tuesday 24th February - Anniversary of the day Mexico gains independence from Spain. Also the anniversary of the day (15 years later) that Mexicans launch an assault on the Alamo.
Hospital appointment this afternoon. It is also my Nephew's birthday. This means that I will spend most of the day trying to think of something to say to him. Usually our birthday conversations go like this:

I heard that people have birthdays on this date so they are one day closer to death. :-/ No birthdays here. No declaring independence. No wars at the Alamo. Just a fucking leaking toilet that needs more than its flapper replaced. Doing a bit of work and then going to Home Depot to buy a Universal Flush Valve Repair Kit as replacing just the flapper didn't fix the leak. Hoping that my gym has fixed its spa as I really would like to soak in it for about an hour later this afternoon. |

Over the past six months I've lost 20 pounds, so when I visited him today I expected a candy lollipop, or at least a pat on the head.
