Cableguy is here. Called them to get their cheap internet service down in the pool house (we had FiOS, but fuck paying that much for something we use so little) Also moved the home phone over from Verizon, and got one of those whole-house DVR systems. All for about $20/month with the discounts & packages. Plus, we got rid of a $100 Verizon bill each month, so I'm happy |banana|

I am kinda tired after my long relaxing weekend lol. So, once the cableguy gets out of my house, I may just sneak in a nap |thumb

Overcast and cool for the moment with mid to low 70's later. To me, perfect weather.

Well I finally got the courage to chop down the beard. Feel like I went from a lion to a meerkat |pokefun|JR.

Mostly did this because I have to go to dmv for a new dr lic pic and wasn't sure I wanted the big ole beard on it for the next 10+ yrs. Plus, I may need to find some in office contract work and think I would look more employable with a well trimmed short beard.

On a good note, we booked a little mini vacation to Vegas for an anniversary coming up. Got a suite at the Hard Rock, gonna see a couple of shows, plus the wife wants to visit the big hole in the ground called the Grand Canyon and then do a little bit of gambling.

Well, back to work now :D

Why not just put a WiFi repeater in the poorhouse and use internet that you already have?

Beautiful weather here too with temps in the upper seventies. Yesterday's paddle was absolutely wonderful.

Had planned on going to the gym today, but I guess I overdid it walking the last few days and my leg is hurting like hell so I just added Magic City to my Netflix Queue and going to start watching it while putting my leg on a vibrating heating pad, hopefully that will help. Actually last night I had a dream that I went back in the hospital for my leg, but the surgeon said that there wasn't enough money in it for him so he was going to remove my kidney stones. I don't have kidney stones. I guess that dream pretty much sums up my opinion of our medical system.

Later today a couple of my friends are coming over and we are rebuilding an old kayak for guests to use.

I thought of something interesting to post while I was out, but now I'm back I've forgotten what it was. :( So I guess I'll just be very British and complain about the weather again.

Yesterday we at last put the clocks back over here, we are now in "British Summertime". So how about some fucking summer weather! I am soooo sick of the cold (even sicker of it than you are of hearing me moan about it). All we got to celebrate it now being summer was a bit of strong (cold) wind and a lot of very wet rain!

How the fuck did you manage to pay $100 dollars a month for broadband? I am on just about the most expensive tariff with just about the most expensive ISP in Britain (wanted it fast and mobile, so had to pay a lot) and I am paying the equivalent of less than $40 a month. For a hundred bucks I'd expect their helpline service to be a 24 hour direct line to Bill Gates brain! (And I don't mean the part of his brain he used to write "Donkey".)

We did try one of those that run off the electrical lines in the house, but the pool house is on a separate electric meter & no matter where I put the extender, I could not get a decent connection down there :( It's only costing us $15/month, compared to.......

That bill wasn't just for internet, but the FiOS (fiber optic) we had down there from Verizon was over $50/month. We still have FiOS in the house, because it is fast as all hell AND it works when the power goes out in the area & we're on the backup generator (cable doesn't - and the power goes out here a lot) The other $50 on that bill was the home phone - and I told them I was moving the number unless they lowered it, but no reply. So now we're paying $25/month thru cable for the home phone |thumb
