Well now... this place still exists! So do I...
I think my last visit here was in 2011 (heh), but I'm still breathing. It's been forever since I've done anything in adult and had this vague idea of potentially getting back into it since it used to be a rather nice income addition to my $dayjob wages.
Of course, time having passed I'm woefully out of touch with the pulse of porn as it were... so allow me to ask a few (probably really stupid) questions. 1: What's the poison of choice these days? Videos? Or can you still get away with image galleries? 2: Is running a TGP still worth it or is it all in the tube sites these days? 3: Has anyone seen my bacon? Okay ignore #3... but I'd love some input on the rest. |
Welcome back :)
Image galleries are still viable out there yes but to get traffic mostly you may need to pay for submit accounts. Some places are still free and I'd maybe start there first. Videos of course are bigger and better but sadly the only place with a lot of traffic are the tubes. TGP is also viable but I think niche would be needed. Anything can work, it depends on your income needs and goals. |
I remember you! |waves|
...and I'll 2nd what Ramster said, but I'll add that this biz really does suck, so don't quit your day job :D |
Lots of the bigger TGP sold old/became tubes so that traffic is a fraction of what it was. :(

Hey guys, thanks for your answers :)
I did notice the whole industry seems to have been turned upside down in recent years, but I guess that's just normal evolution. Not sure I like it though... I think I'll settle for a goal of just getting my feet wet again and seeing if I can make things work :) |
At the risk of getting more snide trolling from UW, my advice is this:
Don't just advertise porn sites, also use non-adult sponsors. Some years back I just dumped a few non-adult ads on my sites as an experiment, I got reasonable sales without loosing adult sales. I then tried strategically placing the ads, and am now making slightly more from the non-adult ads than porn ads, without a drop in porn sales. In other words, adding non-adult adverts doubles the amount of money you make. Although do be careful. More than 90% of non-adult sponsors do not allow you to advertise on adult sites, and say they will simply stop paying you if you put their ads on adult sites. |
Was doing adult full time. Now I'm doing it part time and working way more for less money. :(
|
I'm actually paying my servers off "mainstream" ad income these days, the porn bit is just a case of putting some eggs in a different basket - it does seem that it's gotten incredibly difficult to make a living off things these days, but that's definitely a story/rant for another day (one I've ranted on before coincidentally...)
