Alexa Question

Never bothered about Alexa before, as I don't do a lot of business with webmasters, and common surfers don't usually care about it. However I am considering selling links on my non-adult site, so thought I should pay attention to it.

I just tried to download their toolbar on IE8 my XP machine because that is the one I use to surf my own sites most often (on the theory that if they look OK on that, they will look OK on everything). IE8 refused to accept the download calling it a file from an "unknown publisher" and so not safe.

Anyone know why Alexa should be considered "unsafe" by Microsoft?

I remember seeing that before. I believe some certificate Microsoft wants updated is not updated by Alexa anymore.

You may get more value anyway by claiming your site by setting up a free account with Alexa.

If your sites have traffic you get ok data collection. Better data collection for a paid account. We use free.

It is considered to be a virus/worm/Trojan/unwanted piece of shit by malware scanners. There is something you can do in the security section of IE8 that will allow downloads from unknown publishers. I just can't remember how I did it as I use IE11 now!|banghead|
