December 8th - Thursday

Hi

It's a beautiful day today; +8celsius and sunny.
8+ isn't exactly right in Norway in december though and this winter has so far been warmer than usual...
But mr Donald says it's a Chinese conspiracy, so I'll guess that is what's going on.

Going to check out a new flat I need to rent.
my wife (now ex) and me split up a couple of months back and although we are friends, I just can't stand being in the same house anymore.
So in lack of luck on the proper market I will now rent a temporarily flat. I hope.
(Which means it's a dump and only suitable for temporarily rental. Some space got free and I was next in line)

Have a good day all! |thumb

Morning. |coffee

It's been mild so far in Toronto too despite being told that winter would be harsh this year. We've only had a dusting of snow a couple of times. That's fine with me.

Jolly, I never know whether to say sorry when I hear a couple split because you never know the circumstances. Nonetheless, hope you come through it and find some happiness.

Today, I meet with a mainstream client in the afternoon. Later, I get my haircut (which the shop screwed up and told me was yesterday). Finally going to a condo owners meeting at the place which houses my daughter and her roommate. At some point, I might do a webinar on Google Analytics which I know far too little about.

Have a good one. |thumb

Morning! |waves|

It's snowing in Buffalo. Why? Because it's December |snowman2

The Bitch was just told she can work from home as opposed to driving the 4 miles to work in the dusting of snow that we have |crazy|

Been dogsitting for almost 2 weeks for my youngest, so there's been 4 chihuahua's in the house (don't ask for a pic - it's impossible to herd them) She comes home tonight which is great for me since all 4 dogs in the same bed at night was a no-go & I've been in the spare room with our 2 guests.

I do have to leave the house. One thing that hasn't changed during my funk is picking up the ASSIL 3 days a week from work |banghead|

Mojo wants to move my server and Foxy's server to their new system. They set up a test site for Foxy's server that I was able to test by changing my Mac's host file so that I could test it. Found issues right away including breaking Strongbox.

But her server is very simple compared to mine.
On colo55 we have hundreds of devices, phones, tablets, payment systems, desktops, that would all need to be reconfigured if the email settings were changed. These clients are not tech savvy and I would have to spend days driving to some of them to change their settings for them. On the Spa that I host email and IPs are integrated into their payment and scheduling systems as are these things in CAC’s payment system.

Also on my server are a multiple multisite wordpress installs with dependencies that would be very hard to move and get working again.

On my Cleoslinks.com domain there are scripts in there that Chris custom modified that I have no idea what he has done and are path dependent.

And these are just a few of the issues that come to mind if these changes were made.

Bottom line is this would end up costing me hundreds of dollars in time and lost productivity along with weeks or more of trying to hunt down stuff that this would break.

It's sad because a 17y long relationship-investment went wrong.
But it's good news since we both aknowledge that it's for the best.
She brought it up, but I'd been considering it for a long time.

I took the flat and I'm feeling good about it. So no need to feel sorry |bananna|

Cleo, I just did a server-move as well. Mostly went ok, but script-based stuff was a pain.
For me it was an easy decision though, Amerinoc has gone so bad I just had to get out of there.

What script is being used?

I just left Amerinoc too. In the end they were simply collapsing

Good Morning :)

Just doing biz stuff lately as I'm not motivated to work on the house and it's been chilly, for us, plus the holidays are here and I usually don't want to do anything to hurt the back with all the stuff going on this month so will probably wait till January after my jury duty appearance.

Mojo bought colo a few years ago and so not actually moving host but host wants to move everyone to Mojo hardware.

As far as scripts dozens and dozens. Some use Zend which is no longer supported on newer php. The other issue is path dependencies and payment scripts that depend on server IPs.

I have a lot of clients on my server and all their email clients would need to be setup again with new settings. We are taking about hundreds of devices.

I've been with Mojo since 2007, had been on the same box up until earlier this year. It was on borrowed time after nine years, so they moved me to a new box before there was a major failure.

I was aware of PHP version issues with some of the scripts, so we went with what we thought was the most recent compatible version. Turned out we had to back up a couple of versions. Even knowing where most of the stumps were, it took about a week to track down everything that wasn't working right. Only two of the domains are hosted for others, and they're very basic, so no issues with those.

It wasn't much fun, but given the alternative should a hardware failure have occurred, it was time well spent. The new box is considerably faster too. I guess my point is that sooner or later you're going to have to move to a new server. Perhaps you can migrate in stages, to avoid having a bunch of clients to deal with all at the same time.

Toby - do you take submissions for those yummy latex/fetish sites? (was thinking from www.filmlatex.com )

Tried a new café for lunch today. Found that they did black pudding. Boy my life is one big bundle of excitement, isn't it?

I don't take submissions on Latex-Vixens, but I do on Babes-In-Boots, DressingForSex, Well-Heeled-Women and Stocking-Vixens.

Shoot me a PM with your desired username, password and the email you want approval notices sent to. I'll get you set up with partner accounts on each.
