Why don't you have a general recip?

Hi

Why does many link list don't have a general recip? When you are making free sites in many different niches, then it is very annoying to change recip all the time for every link list I am submitting to.

What is wrong with a general recip to the main page?

If you have to ask you probably won't like the answer. |sad|

hmm, i guess i might be out of the loop, but that seems like a legitimate question someone might have... ill answer it:

niche specific recips come from wanting more links to category pages to boost page rank and relevance in search results. some linklists insist on only niche recips, some give you the choice and some still have regular general recips, it just depends on the linklist owner and how important he thinks his list is.

personally i dont insist on any recip (if your site has no recips to other linklists that is) but i give you a better listing if you do and an even better listing if you give me a niche specific recip. i think far too often link masters get on ego trips and demand things that everyone would be happy to do if they were presented in a better light to the webmaster... no body likes loose/win situations, especially if its you who is on the loosing end, but everyone gets something if you take a couple of seconds to step back and evaluate the situation.

just my two cents at least :D

I have category specific recips all made up.
But I don't care myself having to change them while submitting, so I don't require them.
I do realize the benefit of SE pr, and why webmasters are requesting them.
But at this point, marks isn't large enough.
Being a submitter too, I wouldn't change a marks-links link for the amount of hits recieved by the listing.
If, and/or when this would make sense, then I'll change the rules.

Actually, in my experience most DO have general recips or will allow you to make your own general recips as long as every recip on that page is general.

As for my LL's I do not require cat specific recips for the same reason as dareutwo.

You never insisted on category recips. But your submit page was there till a couple of days back.

Waiting for your new submit page. |shake|

I think cat specific recips are a good thing ...for SE relevance.
I've heard a lot of LL owners say the amount of traffic they get back from recips is very small, so really the best reason I can see for category specificity is SEO.

Someone may correct me on this of course :)

You are right, it is for SEO. I don't get a lot of traffic back from recips on submitted sites, but it DOES help with link popularity.

Search engines rank links to your site based on relevancy, and on page rank. The more relavant the link, the better it is. So, if you have an asian category on your link list, it is much better if an asian free site is linking to it with asian specific search terms in the link.

My general niche link links to front page, and the what's new page if people don't want to use the niches. I agree, I think a lot of us provide some type of general link if you don't want to use it.

I've got a general recip if you want to use it... no recip is fine too as long as there are no other recips on the page.
Submit one clean site and see if you like the traffic.

I recently made up category specific links, however I do still accept sites with just a general link to my index page. Maybe I should let webmasters know that on my submit page? Niche specific prefered, but a general link is accepted...or something like that.

I only wish I could get more GOOD quality sites submitted.

Isn't review land fun??? :) jk

If you have lot's and lot's of bad submits, just BL them, but put a URL in the email to contact you. The ones that email you are not autosubmitting, those that don't, will save you hours per week.
