say a person joins a gay sponsor and when he checks his stats he sees other sites from other webmasters promoting the same sites showing up as hits in his stats is that common or just a glitch in the tracking

The only time I've seen that was after someone copied one of my pages & left my sponsor code in there.

when you go to the urls shown in your stats do the pages have your sponsor code in the links?

Unfortunately so few sponsors show the referring URLs that most people don't get to see how common the problem is - but hell - if they're stupid enough to leave my code in there - go for it - course the ones that change it to their code - boy are their surfers in for a treat |jester|

If your talking about one or two referrers and your code is not actually on those pages then its just an error and unimportant..

working with referrers is always a little flawed and dependent on browsers, new windows, surfer habits etc..

In checking my logs there was a domain that begged to be checked out- hackerfiles.friko.pl

Turns out the kid (I presume ?) who runs the site just did a 'view source' and copied all my gallery links onto his site, complete with my affiliate codes. :D

Hell, maybe I should encourage that. "Like this list of free galleries? Click here for code!"

Half joking, btw. Do sponsors care what domain affiliate links come from?

I signed up with several sponsors in the mid 90's with sites that haven't existed since before 2000 and I get my checks like clock work.

Even today I usually use one domain to signup with and then use their links on many different domains.

I guess a sale is a sale. I looked at the page with my links again and he actually gives me a straight up link to my site and a deep link to my AEBN free movie samples.

All the other links on the page seem to be straight up links to porn sites without affilaite codes. I guess it's his porn recommendations web page. :)

I think many threaten to can your account for linking from warez sites.. I would advise them if you see any sales come in.. better to lose a sale or two than have to explain that you knew about the links, but it isnt your fault later on ;-)
