Monday, July 5th (I've got absolutely nothing)

G'day |horse|

Been working since morning. Woke up earlier than usual, so I have soon done a full day already.

Hitting the gym later, after that I will just chill out for the rest of the day

Take care

It's too damned hot to have anything. I know - 85F to 90F (25C-30C Real Temps) doesn't sound hot until you realize that very very few have any sort of air moderation at all and that our homes are incredibly efficient at holding in the heat. My workroom stays warmer than outdoors. I tried working in the sauna (cool, dark room) but my signal doesn't reach that far. The weather people here said last month was the hottest June on record, with 25 days over 25C (our marker for heat warnings, or Helle). I believe it. Our crops are now in danger, including our precious berries. We might get some light rain this week, but probably not enough to make a difference.

Guess I will try to get a bit more done here before I go crawl into a cool shower.

Morning. |coffee

We've got a mini heatwave here with temps in the low 30s (mid 80s f) for today and tomorrow. I've got to drive my daughter to an appointment north of the city so that's going to take up a big part of my afternoon.

Have a good one! |thumb

Sorry to hear that it's too hot there, Pagan. Crop failure could be a big problem going forward. I hope I'm wrong.

It is seriously hot all over the Northern Hemisphere, not just Canada and the US. One of the warmest temperatures this week was recorded in far far north Finland. This is so very rares.

"Extreme heat in the Arctic Finland," FMI researcher Mika Rantanen tweeted on Monday afternoon," Utsjoki Kevo just recorded 33.5°C (92.3°F), which is not only the station's new all-time heat record, but also the highest reliably measured temperature ever in the whole Finnish Lapland."

The crops in trouble are mainly peas and beans so it really represents a loss to the farmers but no real food shortages. They will simply import from other areas to make up the loss. We grow a lot of rapeseed in this area, similar to canola. It grows well here because it doesn't do well in the heat. June was exceptionally hot, and July is looking to be the same. I think the oilseed farmers will be looking for new crops soon.
