Adult warning pages...

Why is it some sites have them and some don't? If you refer to my thread on branding you'll see that I'm looking more closely than usual at tgps. What I see --

* Most Link Lists use warnings
* Most tgps don't

What am I missing? Warnings surely arent just an excuse for enhance SE ranking. Aren't we required to have one??

It depends on the tgp really :)

I don't think we are "required" to have a warning page... but if your domain name is not obviously porn related, I think you should.

Using a warning page on your linklist does you give more SEO control too.

Okay, that's cool, I just never knew that. Personally I think we should too.

Thanks for the info folks! :)

People can build anyway they want so really it is up to the webmasters.

TGPs are the fast food of our industry, built for surfing speed and mass fast porn consumption.

I look at the warning page not as a warning page but the page that you get to put some ads on it without having to put any content on it. Its a half page ad with a no thank you link really.

Not all link lists have a warning page. :D

Actually since often people use Google or something they never see your warning page.

those domains dont seem to have any PR Cleo.. I am not sure why, they may all be brand new, but you might find that google will find more of your internal pages if you put up targetted index pages.

I've tried it both ways on linklist domains and 90% of the time I do a lot better on the domains I setup with warning pages designed to get the internal category pages ranked as a priority.

Thanks for your info, Cleo. I was just uploading script files when it occurred to me : do I use a warning page or not? I'm so used to designing sites with a splash/warning, it was the first time it had occurred to me not to use one. I think based on your info I'll definitely go with a warning. I'm not all that bothered about being as fast as other tgps and I like splash pages.

You know, I wouldn't have to fuck around with this stuff if you'd just let me be your houseboy :D

Four of them are about a month old and four others are a week old. It is something new that I'm slowly building over the next six months so nothing is set in stone, just a new pet project of mine. It is to test what a link list would be like if it was designed more like a niche specific TGP so this thread seemed like a good place to make them public. :)

Sounds like an excellent idea to me :)

Very simple:

Link Lists link to Free sites, which have warning pages

TGP's link to galleries, which do not have warning pages

Plus it's a good place to put some keywords :D

Surfn 2004-05-05 03:52 PM

Some domains I use and ad page and some I don't. :)

I dont think pr has anything to do with it
