i recently started an adult humor site and the response has been huge i mean im getting people mailing my site around like crazy and bookmarkers are increasing each day, more so than any bookmarkable adult site ive ever run.

only thing is i dont know how this is happening the site is rather new and its becoming very popular (but its not a new type of site) and the content on the site is nothing special just news stories funny/freaky clips etc,
the design isnt unique , the domain is unusual but apart from that i dont understand, i know word of mouth can be good but i never expected it to be this big as thet site was started for fun and not business or to make money.

im just wondering how come this doesnt happen as often with adult sites ? is it because the market is oversaturated ? is it because the sole reason people put up adult sites now if to squeeze every cent out of a surfer ? or because people are getting jerked to everywhere and cant find anything good to bookmark

most likely because most people are much more comfortable IM'ing or emailing someone a link to something funny, than to an adult website.

I have a friend that sends out 'funnies' She used to send it cc'd instead of bcc'd...... it was a HUGE list (I imagine that in the last year it has only gotten bigger).... and of course some of those people will have their own lists to fw: it too, and on and on.

well the one im running is adult humor so i just put some ads up and they go quite well

I was wondering if there were any sponsors that have good humor content like Jokes of the day and I suppose other funny/entertaining content free sites could use, well...for free? :)

at what stage does it become profitable?

I make very little money with my humor site, but it's nmore of a shits & giggles thing for me.

Besides, I'm too busy trying to make money from these lovely porn sites :D
