when starting a linklist!

What are some important things to do !?.
im going to buy the link admin from http://www.usefulscripts.com

so now what more should i think of before i start this new adventure ?..

cheers! |buddy|

Tommy 2004-05-11 04:45 PM

well the most important thing is to have a color theme for the site.

if you notice greenys got green
the hun has yellow.

the good colors are all going quick
so ya better pick one

Greenguy 2004-05-11 05:12 PM

...and don't think of taking the surfers default settings for fonts & colors, as Tommy's got those trademarked :D

Even before you get a script, you need to decide on the theme for the site (niche specific or general categories), you need ot have some templates set up for the warning, main & category pages - and don't set up every category page before you get link admin installed, or you'll be editing pages for a week - get a general look for your category pages & then rename them once you have linkadmin installed so that you know what coding to put on the pages)

What categories you're going to have is important and the layout too of course. And how do you plan to drive traffic to it. A new link list nowadays without any traffic is a long term project so be prepared.

Oh, and I have black as my color but it has a space background so you can still use it. |rasta|

... and get your rules sorted and in place from the start.

Another thing before going "live" with it to surfers is be sure to have maybe 10 or so sites per category. Surfers won't stay long if they find your site and there is only 2 links in a cat.

Thanx for all the tips guys! yes i have started to make the design and such things! and working on a few other things also :)

good info over here tho! )

Tommy 2004-05-11 06:20 PM

Also ya might wanna think about getting some kind of charcter

maybe like a big ball of snot with arms |jester|

Cleo 2004-05-11 06:39 PM

Well the color of Gold is already taken or the color of piss depending on your sense of color perception.

Really are there any colors left?

You may have to upgrade your surfer's eyeballs so that you can invent new colorsÉ

If you intend to make money from it.....have an imense amount of patience. I started mine 6 years ago and never made much from it till the past year or so...nothing to get excited about but it's starting to make me money....a little anyway.

A link site is definitly a long term project.

Besides praying you might try to get some good trades with similar sites.

Plus like Tommy said find a Logo that surfers will remember you by.

Why exactly do you think it took so long for you to start making profit from it?
