Useless Traffic..

I have read some discussions about blocking traffic from non productive countries and how TGP and link list owners would respond to this negatively.

Some cite Saudi Arabia, where pornography is illegal, as an example of a country that sucks up a lot of bandwidth and has little potential to generate sales.

Would it be possible to start a grass roots movement to come up with a list of countries that we could block from our linklist/galleries?

It's really up to you what you block from your link lists & tgp's - some of mine I block all kinds of countries, some just a handful & some none at all.

I just redirect all my useless traffic to Greenguy's stuff.

I do the same thing as Cleo :D

I have seen that many of the TGP's mention no redirecting in their rules. I thought that if they did not like redirected traffic that they would also object to blocking countries. I see the "freeloaders" as a bane to all of us in the on-line adult industry.

So the real question is: would TGP owners blacklist/reject galleries from domains that block useless traffic.

I wouldn't redirect for any reason.

Use a banner rotator and Geo target your ads.

Most definitely YES. Don't do it on galleries you submit.

Most ISPs in Arabic countries have installed filters because porn is forbidden by law/religion there, so I don't see the problem. Which doens't mean that there isn't interest in porn of course. In fact, I think it would be a booming market if those filters were removed. Certainly not all of Arabia is a demolished poor Iraq/Afghanistan.

Of course the problem of non-productive traffic from Asia/Russia/South-America is also known to me. Cleo's solution on geotargeted banners sounds great, but then again tgp-owners might start whining that you use a javascript for it. Or does Cleo have another solution for that?

Best,

And yet I get a surprisingly large amount of .sa domain traffic daily. I suspect the filters are only for the common folk who likely can't afford net access anyway, while the sons of the royal families can surf porn all day to their heart's content. But, obviously, they don't buy any. |pissed|

I get a ton of military traffic from Arab countries. :D The women are all covered up so they come to my sites to buy porn. |bananna|

eppoclappo 2004-05-28 02:18 PM

Ah... military traffic. |raygun| Of course! Probably straight through a (European) satellite ISP. Those weren't around when I discussed this issue some time ago with Arabic surfers desperately looking for porn and complaining about that filter stuff.

Arabic princes as surfers? I'm sure your websites are an inspiration for the real life entertaining belly dancer after diner time. |bananna| Be proud of it and ask for a royal smut seal to get even more .sa traffic! :-))

I did some investigation in the past on dailers for Arabic countries, but rates are poor. Any new players in that market that I haven't heared about yet? Or should I start exporting blow up sheeps... |jester|

To heck with the royal smut seal. I was angling for a royal $$$ subsidy for my efforts. |jester|
