Link To Console Free Paysite Tours?

I've been debating making some changes to my paysite links on my sites. Seems that as things get tighter for paysites, the consoles get looser. Minimized timed consoles are popping up two, three at a time, full screen windows are becoming more common and of course the endless chain of consoles are all over the place.

Not all paysites are doing this, but the majority are now. Lots of sponsors are offering a slightly lower payout if you link to the console free version of their tours. This has been available for a while but I've usually just opted for the higher pay.

What are you guys doing? I think getting paid less for a console free tour would outweight the higher paid console hell tours because surfers will get more opportunities to shut down that site or hit the back button and go try another.

Any thoughts?

I've been thinking about it too - I changed over a lot of my links to console free a couple of weeks back to see the results for a while.

I can't say I've enough traffic to see quick results on whether console free or console is the way to go - but I have been making sales on sites I've never made before - sites I've changed to console free.

Like I say it hasn't been enough to make a decision yet, but it appears to me that (despite my great distain for being surfer-friendly) that it might be the way to go.

Pop-ups are mainstream now, and people hate them - which isn't a good frame of mind for your surfers to be in.

Still figures don't lie, if I make better $$ with consoles, then they stay - like I say, I'm the last person to concede to being surfer-friendly.

I like to use them on my ll.

I figure if someone comes along that is willing to pay for memberships then I don't want to scare them off. Or have them led away.

Well I believe that it all depends on what you’re selling and where you’re selling it.

For Example if you have a link list or a TGP your goal is to encourage bookmarks for your site. If you have a thousand pop ups on your site no one will come back.

This is an even greater flaw because with the rule that most link list have about opening free sites in new page it will kill you. What I mean by they will kill you is that say your site opens in the same window and they click a banner off your site to a sponsor all good right? Wrong, because what if they want to get back to your link list then they have to close 4 pop up windows and click no the toolbar crap that some sponsors want users to download. Why would I want to go thru that every time I click a link to something like? For the most part I think it would stop user from clicking banners on your site because they figure I get enough pop ups from the free sites list here and now here are some more. I wouldn’t come back to popup hell but that’s just me.

Same thing applies to TGP owners. I think these guys can afford to go non console do to them owning it and them not having a time limit on how long there banners and text links are up.

Then there is TGP galleries which I would say yes to use the pop ups and all the tricks because these people need to be sold twice sometimes. Most are just looking for a free ride and if they don’t find what they want they just go on to the next gallery. I say with these galleries this is the time to give them a second thought with a pop or whatever.

On free sites they should be used because of 2 reasons.
1. Mostly all other webmasters have them on there’s and get paid full price why not you. 2. This is way better traffic so they are more inclined to buy if they see some eye candy in a popup.

Brake down of what I said.

1. Link List Owner = No Pop Ups Consoles
2. TGP Owner = No To Pop Ups Consoles
3. TGP Galleries = Yes To Pop Ups Consoles
4. Free Sites = Yes To Pop Ups Consoles

These are just my rules and how I see it, Others might feel different but, some might agree with me.

These are all my opinions and I don't clame to be anywhere near an expert or even intermediate level because im still learning to. So take it as that :)

Hope You Get Something From This |waves|

Just to clarify one thing: my no console/new window rule applies to the site you submitted to me & not to the sponsors. Just don;t have anything opening in a new window on your site & you'll be safe :)

dubb 2004-05-26 07:20 PM

Oh ok maybe I misunderstood it. My thinking was that the no new window rule applied to banner links as well if you wanted to get list on your site. Thanks for clearing that up :)

Yeah... I don't care what my submiters use on submited sites.

Just like it to be clean when I send them.|rasta|

i use no console tours on my link lists. its better for the surfers. some sponsors are really going overboard with consoles

We use console free tours. When I must choose between higher payout on sponsor and surfers retention, I choose the second one.

Ramster 2004-05-28 08:46 AM

On my TGPs and Link Sites I use conzole free. Maxcash for example I don't think offers conzole free and I have not listed their sites on any of my newer sites. Their popups Never end, it's a nightmare.

I think if sponsor can offer popupless tours without decreasing price, it have a great chances to be listed higher on LL's.

I'm using the console-free option whenever possible. Some sponsors I use still don't offer that option. Aside from surfer hostility, the main reason I'm taking the console-free option is that I found at least one sponsor (PornMegaBucks) opens consoles to other sponsors' sites beside their own, and they use their own (PMB employees, I guess) user codes on those links. So not only was I running the risk of surfers being pissed at the console popups, but I wasn't even going to get sales for the majority of those consoles even if the surfer did decide to buy. So, I'm still promoting PMB, but console-free only.
