How do I start a TGP?

Okay..own a small adult hosting company, but really want to do TGP's. Have 10 servers, and about ready to scrap five of them if I don't turn a profit soon!

Where do I start? What should I do? Can I get some honest feedback to start turning these hard drives into dollar signs?

Help would be appreciated and rewarded!

Now this is a loaded question - LOL :)

1st thing you need to decide is what kind of TGP you plan on making - one with a lot of categories or one that's niche specific & if so, what categories for that niche will you have. Example: if you decided on an Asian only TGP, would it jsut be all "asian galleries" or sould you have asianbabes, asian amateurs, asian hardcore, asian cumshots, etc.

Then you need to build the site - most have warning page, then the main page where all the galleries are located & some also have an archive of old galleries (sorted by category if that's the path you choose from the 1st part)

Then you need a script for it, as running it by hand is a pain in the ass.

Then you need galleries for it until you can build up a decent amount of submits. You can fill it with sponsor hosted galleries, but I know that as a webmaster, if I see a TGP that's all sponsor hosted galleries, I tend to think it's a hub & not a "legit" TGP for webmasters to submit too. So I'd say find galleries on other TGP's that you like & that fit into the rules that you have for your TGP & list those - just make up your own descriptions & don;t copy what the other TGP has already posted.

After that, you "open" it, set up some regular link trades & ask for submits from other webmasters. Submit the TGP to webmaster resource sites (like this one) & post on boards about the site - but don't spam! Looks for threads where people are asking for -places to submit & if you site fits, post :)

Wow! Here's a loaded answer...

Where do I find all this information? Where are some good sample TGP pages, and where can I find some good scripts? How about free traffic generating sites? Any ideas?

Hi Sintelligent,

The script I use is autogallery sql from JMB. It's not the most feature rich but, in truth, it does everything you could ever want and it's only 85 bucks. http://www.jmbsoft.com/

Most of the info GG generously gave you can only be found by getting your hands dirty and searching it out piece by piece.

Here's what I'd do in your position - assuming tgp is truly what you want to do.

1. Decide on your niche, how you want to brand it, and the name you'll use.
2. Get your domain name.
3. Find a good designer and get it built for you from the ground up (script included). Tell the designers you want a trade script installed as well.
4. Buy some traffic from here : http://www.traffic-out.com/ to kick start your site.
5. Work on trading with other sites - and buy more traffic if needed.
6. Submitt galleries and use your own recip as one of the 3 you use.
7. Pay for traffic at different places and use your tgp as the upsell. 300 bucks will get you on sublimedirectory and 500 will get you on the hun (although he's booked for next few months).

If you need any specific help, just email me. I'm not looking for a job, just being friendly :)

Thank You...Thank You!

However...Is there anything that DOESN'T cost as much money? If I'm allocating these funds...is there any type of guarantee?

Are there any example pages you can point me to that are using these scripts? How about TGP pages?

Thanks again!!!

Sure, check out www.fuk18.com for an example of the 85 buck jmb script. I've also got a free trade script installed here http://www.fuk18.com/awgtrade/signup.cgi

JMB do also have a free script but I can't comment on it, since I've never used it. :)

Try XXXcentury script - it's free and fully functional! http://xxxcentury.com

The 64 Million Dollar Question:

What are some REALLY good ways to get traffic that you DON'T have to purchase? Recurring traffic, that is.

Everything else...the advice...has been fantastic!

submit galleries with a link back to your site in them is one free way, but you need a lot

............. what ever happened to building a few free sites... |sad|

Sintelligent,

as you appear to have no knowledge.. why are you wanting to build a TGP??

I know at a few places this is the entry-level site to build... but I can think of 100 better ways of starting out... and all DONT involve jerking surfers around.

A few free sites? Have a couple of those, but would like to move on and discover the world of TGP.

And, I have a bit of knowledge, just not on the TGP side of things, which I've already admitted to.

Thanks!

Sintelligent,

that wasn't meant to come off as harsh as it sounds...:)

but why start a TGP? Do you think it is going to make you $$? Is it part of a plan.

IMO Lots of people start things without actually thinking about it.. There are 40,000 TGPs out there.. why is yours going to make $$

I don't know a lot of adult webmasters who are philanthropists! :-)

I'd like to use the TGP's to flow traffic to my pay sites, and to some AVN's I have.....isn't that a good idea, or do you have a better way of getting traffic?

I have not messed with it, but Turbo Traffic Trader is free.
