Thumb preview linklist?
Anyone over thought of this?
Are there any? What would be the pros and cons? |
I saw one a few months back that was basically like a normal link list, with a small thumbnail on the left of the link/description.
Of course, I think the "thumb" part of things is pretty much for TGP's & galleries & not really for Link Lists & Free Sites. |
I thought about it and then I thought of the fact that some of my categories have over a thousand listings and what have a thousand thumbs loading would do to the page. Anyway I want them to click on my sponsor links and not the free stuff. LOL

Could be worth a shot but I think that surfers clicking on a thumbnail will not enjoy going to a warning page. It just doesn't seem to make sense to me but I ain't got much sense. |jester|

I think it sounds like an interesting twist on things. That virexy-porn site look pretty nice I think.
But how about getting the thumbs in the database and uploaded to the server and what not. If I had to start the ftp client every time I think it would ruin the fun real quick. |

There is a script out there that does it for link lists, http://www.phpwebscripts.com ;)

Yeah.. virexy-porn have been online for some time - I like them and the owner Holister types from time to time.

I had PornAve.com as a thumb LL for a few months.....not sure if it was worth it or not....you will eat up bandwidth that is a given...

I have something similar to this on a links list I'm developing. Links are listed in the usual way, but there is an option to click on details for each said link. Once a surfer clicks on details the script shows a screen cap - pulled from the site in question.
As someone mentioned, clicking on a thumb, only to get a warning page, might be a tad confusing. Screen caps I think are more appropriate for free sites. It might also encourage more webmasters to pretty up their warning pages a little. :) |
