Green Guy, very well said

I may not post here so much anymore (but then again I'm not really posting anywhere anymore....too busy!) but I do read the newsletter and I couldn't have said it better myself.

"We have recently had a flood of visitors and posters that are usually found on other forums. While we appreciate the new visitors, it makes me wonder what the other forums are doing wrong :) Maybe, once new people are tired of seeing pictures of people's cars, bikes and fake girlfriends and answering "Yes, they would hit it", they decide it's time to get to business and stop playing games."

Well said.

JenC I agree with you |shake|
I joined GreenGuy and Jim close to a year ago and put the blinders on to other Adult Forums. With out a doubt the smartest thing I have done so far in my venture into the adult biz.
In the last month I have joined two other forums both with ties to my home town.
One of the forums has excelent articles and seems like they give sound advice but not alot of daily posts the other one totaly baffels me |sad|

GreenGuy and Jim your doing a great job and this will allways be my forum of choice
becouse I know I will get honest answers to my questions and I don't have to worry about 100 webmasters telling me to go fuck myself if and when I ask a stupid question|jester|

kristian 2004-06-22 02:29 PM

I agree too. This is the only place I post and it'll probably stay that way. I'm constantly learning from all the good info on these forums. I look at other forums and wonder why these people waste their life by posting such nonsensical crap. Life is too short. Live long and prosper, GG&J! |thumb

Surfn 2004-06-22 02:58 PM

Hmm, I wonder what's happening to my newsletters?

Torn Rose 2004-06-22 03:22 PM

I agree, I still read/post at other places, but 90% of those are none business related (Sports, parties etc)

This is my "Business" place.

Greenguy 2004-06-22 03:26 PM

While I'd like to take credit for that part of the newsletter, it was all Jim.

Of course, I had a very large smile on my face when I read it :D

ecchi 2004-06-22 03:58 PM

OK it is good for any board to get new posters but too many of the "people who come from other boards", just come to cross post. For example I came here today directly from another board, and two of the new threads on this board I have already read elsewhere, what is the point ?

grzepa 2004-06-22 04:21 PM

Agreed.
GG&J is the only adult webmaster board I participate and Im happy with that.

Cheers !

Jim 2004-06-22 06:07 PM

Thanks guys :)

Nickname 2004-06-22 06:16 PM

Good one Jim!! |cheers|

JenC 2004-06-22 08:48 PM

Then I would like to give credit where it's due....Good job, Jim. |shake|

dareutwo 2004-06-22 09:56 PM

I just got mine back, as well as replies from the board! Woohoo! They've been NOT working ever since I moved my sites to SINHOST. The tech at sinhost worked his butt off trying to figure out what was going wrong and finally determined that it wasn't on their side, but had something to do with NATNET's servers (there were others I couldn't hear from, lightspeed, AL4A, etc. who all host on NATNET).

Fortunately, I got the opportunity to speak with an awesome women named Kathi at NATNET yesterday. She wasn't sure she beleived my problem but was willing to help even though I wasn't a natnet customer myself!

To make a long story short, it turns out that NATNET had the domain for SINHOST set up in their DSN server so any e-mails that originated on NATNET (such as greenguys, lightspeed, AL4A, etc) all got sent to la la land instead of to the SINHOST servers! In fact, the NATNET servers could not even see my site at all! This has been going on ever since I moved to sinhost, which has been close to a year now. Now I can see again!|bananna|

I still read G*Y from time to time but there's just way too many junk posts. I post a lot on cozy and now that my e-mails from here are working again, and I can get thread reminders, I'll be posting here more |rock|

Surfn 2004-06-22 11:52 PM

Hmm, NatNet might be my problem but I was getting them until 3 weeks ago. Of course NatNet has had some problems around that time.

It may explain why I can't get LOR's script to work anymore too....hmm

I would venture to guess, since I have been guilty of this regarding a security issue, it is to get those people who only view one board and would otherwise miss a post someone felt strongly about.

I don't post here much but I do find the different points of view useful since I am relatively new to this industry. Overall the poster demographics seem to be different. I too am completely unconcerned with weather the group would "hit" someone's girlfriend. I'd much rather discuss strategy and good free site design.

Of course if your question was strictly retorical. I will immediately commence to smacking my head against the nearest wall. |brick

This board is the best. I can always ask my newbie questions and get a good thought out answer. The overall atmosphere here is friendly and helpful.

I appreciate all the help given here |bananna|

The only other boards I really pay attention to are avs boards since i do some avs type stuff.

ecchi 2004-06-23 05:26 AM

RE "I have been guilty of this regarding a security issue...." Some things, like security issues are important enough to cross post. My gripe is with posters who cross post "chatty" type posts or "can I have your opinion of..." type posts. There is no point in cross posting these, it is bad etiquette, and it makes all boards that the thread is posted at look bad to new arrivals.

Useless 2004-06-23 09:52 AM

I only post here cause the babes dig it.

I like the structure of GG&J. The breakdown of Link Lists, TGPs, General, Chat, etc, etc, etc. Here and Cozy are the only forums I bother with anymore. I don't need GFY to get sworn at and be abused. I get that the moment I wake up.

It seems that fewer and fewer adult forums not only stay on topic, but also foster an air of respect for your fellow webmasters, new and old.

SomeCreep 2004-06-24 09:59 AM

GG&J is a great board with lots of useful information. The majority of the time, when people post here, it is because they actually have something to say, not because they are flaunting their sig.

Has anyone seen JBM lately? Every thread has about 10+ ARS sig whores posting useless crap. ugh! (I'm so glad ARS sigs were banned on GFY)

SykkBoy 2004-06-28 02:48 PM

I try to make appearances on all boards...

every board has their strength
only reason I haven't been here much is..I dunno...I'm lazy ;-)

As for cross posts, they can be important for people who only frequent one or two boards. Not everyone reads every board.

It's also all about exposure. The more boards you post on, the more potential business you expose yourself too.

ecchi 2004-06-29 02:02 AM

RE "As for cross posts, they can be important for people who only frequent one or two boards.", yes if it is something like a virus warning, but most cross posts are by A******S trying to get their sigs on as many boards as possible.
