Question for Raw Alex

Hey Alex,

A couple of days ago I tried to submit a site (to FindPics) and got an error message indicating the domain was banned. The next day I submitted under a different domain and had no problem, so I figured it was a fluke. Today I submitted again on yet a third domain, and again got the banned error. So...I've come to the reasonable conclusion that I'm doing something you don't like, but I am clueless as to what. (Either that, or my IP block has been banned).

Should I provide details here, or would you prefer email?

Mishi, post up some URLs so I can have a look... it is good for everyone to see and learn iif there is an issue, or for me to enjoy some nice crow if there isn't.

Mishi, I looked, and from what I can see in my (very short) notes, it is because of:

On each of the sites, there is a link sequential to your gallery links that link to a video clip. That video clip opens in a new window, and that content is not on your domain / site.

"Images, banners, return logos, and all other materials for the site must be hosted on the same domain as the site submitted. "

and

" No consoles, pop ups, timed exit windows, forced downloads, redirections of surfers, or changing / setting options on a users computer without permission."

When I see one site like that, I decline it. When I see the same thing over a number of sites, I start banning the domains so that I don't have to spend time reviewing sites I am not going to list. It keeps the review time down to something reasonable.

Ah, okay. (FYI to the folks who may be reading, he's referring to AEBN's free video console link.)

I'll make a note not to submit sites to you that use the free video console. I'm beginning to seriously question whether it's doing me any good...I see a trend of fewer clicks through to the sponsor when I use it, but no corresponding increase in AEBN members, so I may be dropping it and looking for a better way to market them.

Thanks for the response!

I would have LESS of an issue if it opened in the current window, and I would have less issue with it if it was a click off a banner or ad, not appearing to be part of the "content" part of your site.

email me rawalex at hotmail with the domains that are coming up blacklist, and I will re-animate them.
