FPA on ad clicks?
Does anyone have experience putting FPAs between your gallery ads and sponsors? So when a user clicks on any ad link, they get an FPA before going to the sponsor. I would think this would be a good way to "pre-qualify" the sale, before sending the sponsor traffic I may not get back if they don't like what they see.
This seems to satisfy most of the LL rules out there that mention no FPA before content. Do any list owners have a problem with this? If so, why? I saw this mentioned on one of the LL how-to's out there. It sounds like a good idea, but I don't see anyone doing it. Is there a reason? Thanks, sw |
Some people swear by them... but the majority don't use them.... |noclue|
IMO its just an extra click till you get them to the spnsor. DD |

One more click to loose the sale. :(

fpas
I don't think one more click would lose many sales. I'd think anyone not willing to sign up because they clicked one more time isn't serious about signing up in the first place.
The user may be interested in the gallery pics, but then get to the sponsor and not be as interested. The idea being the fpa would look more like the sponsor's site using their pics etc, and if that's not what they want then they can back out without console-hell and I'd still keep the surfer for other sponsors. Plus there's the convenience of just having to change one fpa to update a sponsor, instead of all the gallery links. Anyone ever test both ways on the same content etc? |
When I do picpost submissions I link to FPA's and it works out pretty well. The trick is using a good FPA. I usually take a teaser pic from 8-12 of the free content sets the sponsor provides and make kind of a gallery with large thumbs that link right to the tour. Throw in some good descriptive text and it works out pretty good. As long as you can build an FPA that'll actually make sales it can be better than a straight tour link.
I promote mostly solo girl sites so I also put thumb links to 5 or 6 other FPA's of girls on the bottom, or even some toplist links. |
In my experience, you are better off going directly to the sponsor, unless you are REALLY GOOD at designing FPA's |rasta|
