ICQ communication

Am I the only person who has problems with ICQ?

Messages not getting to people? How reliable is ICQ?

Especially when someone is not on your contact list.

I've been using ICQ for 7 years. Since 2 years I'm getting a lot of BS messages and authorization requests from girls that want to chat with me and that have their nude pictures online specially for me. I just got used to ignoring them :)
Sometimes it happens that messages won't send but after a few tries it usually works.
I never authorize someone I don't know..

I just got your ICQs this morning.

Most of the time ICQ works great but once in awhile messages come in way after they have been sent or nor at all.

I always seem to have problems with ICQ but it seems to be with certain people.. I always wonder if its ICQ or those people... or maybe its me?

Damn free software! :D

I was one of the beta testers for ICQ. It use to be much more unstable and loaded with spam. The last couple of years it has become stable and they finally started terminating accounts for spamming.

This said; it doesn't help to be on "someones" ignore list. ;)

The one thing that I have noticed about ICQ, this may or may not be a Mac only thing, is that after putting my laptop to sleep and waking it back up ICQ will sometimes show connected when it is not. I try to remember to hit disconnect/connect after waking my laptop up but don't always remember to.

Usually after Luna phones me and asks why I'm ignoring her ICQs that I realize that my ICQ only says it is connected and isn't really.

The only issue I ever had with ICQ was it took so much resources of my PC and a year or so ago I was having a lot of issues with that and other programs, so I switched to Trillan which turned out to be worse in the long run, since I lost 75% of my contact list 2 weeks ago.

I am using ICQ now and I'm not sure I will mess with Trillan anymore, I had 3 or 4 non ICQ contacts that I used MSN and AIM for, but not sure they are worth the "risk" of losing my list again.
