Monitor Size Verse Website

I have a question if anyone can help,

I just got a new monitor 18.5 viewable, when I view everything now it looks shrunk in the screen, but if I make my html pages to the size of my screen the surfers that have smaller screens will have to scroll the screen .... What should I do build for smaller size or larger screens?

If I do % page width the pictures and text will still come out wrong either way! HELP!

It’s not you monitor, it’s your settings. If you want to be safe set your monitor to 800x600 to build and then everything will be fine. |rasta|

|hello| Heather,

I keep my 19" set at 1024x768 but there is a nifty little free download you can get here: http://www.applythis.com/browsersizer/
Called Browser Sizer and it will show you what your page looks like at different settings and in IE versus NS. Kinda handy if you arent used to looking at your screen in 800x600 :)

Just make sure that everything fits in a table that is no more then 750 pixels wide and you will be fine. :)

Kinda funny you posted that, because after about an hour last night of having it set at 800 I put it back, I will download that...Thank you so much!

LOL Heather, I have tried setting my monitor on 800x600 to check things and it drives me nuts. All depends on what you are used to I suppose, but I've used the 1024x768 setting for about 2 yrs, so that little program is a life saver and it's a real small file :)
Good luck with it!

I too try to make everythingso that it's no bigger then 750 wide, but my editor, Namo, does also have an option of viewing the pages in different screen sizes (640x480 - 800x600 - 1024x768 or custom)

build was what I was referring to. You can surf any res. I surf at 1280x1024 32 bit color. I don't use that to build though. |thumb |coolman

I still build for 640x480 if I can. Call me old fashioned, call me strange, but don't forget that you can also set your tables to 100% instead of a fixed pixel value.

That way the page will fill all screens.

It's worth checking it out on a few resolutions first though.
