Is there a universal LL Ban List?

Does a universal Linklist Banned domains list exist?

If not....why not? Anyone interested in using/submitting to it...etc to one if I made a site?

I don't know how good idea that would be. Some LL owners might ban someone for a little mistake, which would in turn have him banned everywhere...lame

Right...BUT...My thought would be to have a ranking for the offense...

ie.
xyz.com 5 star ban due to redirecting all sites

zyx.com 1 star ban due to 6 or more outbound non-recip links.

Something like that....

well there is the shared blacklist that many use but because of the trigger happy nature of some of the owners who do use it i would never subscribe to one myself.

i think the only way a shared blacklist could work is if the ban had to go through some sort of vetting process like having some admin person decide if it should go on the whole blacklist or three or more other owners banning them too, but even then a real appeals process would have to be in place - far too often when someone blacklists someone and they try to appeal on the one that exists right now nothing happens.

just too many down points, i will make mine and others can make theirs and i think that works best imho

I started on a site a while back that is almost finished. This site allowed webmasters to login and add domains, emails, & ips to a list and the reason. Then other webmasters could come in and search the list based on webmaster name. So, in other words, if you trusted Greenguy, Linkster and Danger Dave you could choose their usernames if they submitted to the list and then just pull their bans so that you didnt get someones list you didnt trust.

Would this be of use? Its maybe a day or so from finishing if people are interested.

It would be if it included XPorns idea of a ranking system for offenders. Would need to have reason for blacklist and when blacklisted and it would definatly need security_man vetting.

Ranking system could easily be added, but not sure who would rank them? It also does a whois on domains at the time of addition and things like that and stores the information for later review. That way if someone wanted to look back at other sites that might have had that same whois info it would be there.

Also the reason for blacklisting is already in the system when you add a blacklisted item. Right now you can add ip, email and domain to the blacklist, then would be able to retrieve any or all of those items that were added.

I would be more than happy to add any features and finish this up if there was interest from multiple people who would use this. It would be a free service to webmasters.

This idea kinda scares me. I am blacklisted at one LL and I don't know why. I have tried to contact the owner and haven't been successful. We submit good clean free sites so a universal ban would suck. I understand that it would be kind of monitored with the ranking system but say one LL owner really hates a submitter for some reason they'd be screwed. We also have a LL and I like taking care of my own blacklist. Of course, we're still tiny so not a lot of crap has come to us. :) We do check out this forum and if we see something come through that we've seen as banned here and it's a good reason we will ban too. I guess I just like to do it myself. Just my 2 cents.

Keep in mind that only if someone else used that persons blacklist would you be banned somewhere else. Now, my other thought was that you as a submitter could submit a removal request and maybe like 3 site owners would confirm the removal. I'm not sure if that would work or not but there would have to be a way to get people off the list as well, and that was what i was thinking was like a blacklist removal tribunal :)

I can see where it would maybe work but it would almost seem to be as much if not more work for the ll owners than regulating their ban lists themselves. It would at least take a lot of work to get it running smooth. Good luck if you decide to go for it. :)
