I'm going to France.

I've sold an apartment in Rome that we haven't used in almost 2 years (everything just way too expensive and crazy, no offense to any italiens), and I'm selling up here in the UK. I'm undecided on northern or southern france. Does anyone have suggestions? Maybe you live in France, have pics? Know an estate agent? Been there on vacation and liked a certain area? Would love to hear your opinions and pics would of course be cool.

I aim to move in the first half of 05 so there's a good amount of time to plan. Since there's a lot of nationalities here (and also folks that travel a lot) I figure this is another good resource for me to utilize.

So there ya go. Pics and advice would be really cool. Thanks! :)

Just an update. It's gonna be southern france. :)

Looking at the size of the properties, there's probably more than enough room if you ever wanted to visit. Long as you're not a serial killer :D

check the price of this baby : http://www.french-property-news.com/...4DuBoisson.htm

That's cheaper than 1 bedroom apartments over here, seriously.

We've always liked our trips to France and it's nicely central for stuff like skiing, monte carlo, cannes, nipping over to spain, switzerland or italy. We're just so cut off from the action in the uk (which, dare I say, Blair is slowly turning into a haven for every immigrant on god's green earth). Some euro countries are a little too 3rd world for my liking, but France is civilised, culture is easygoing, and standard of living is much higher. This is what's so cool about what we all do, it opens up a world of possibilities. :)

It's beautiful... and cheap being in a tiny village and the expenses I think... and you will work in that tower, won't you?

Hey digifan, you read my mind :) It's just one on the list to look at, but yeah I thought those towers were cool. There's a few houses (?) in the gothic style which are pretty cool so I might post those later. :)

kristian,

You should certainly check out St. Paul de Vence, I had a GF who had a villa there, it's a gorgeous area! Pricy, but well worth it.
It's up in the hills, fucking beautiful. And Vincent van Gogh used to live there so maybe u can pick up paiting ;-)

I liked Nice & the riviera, having a place around there would be nice:) Check out Monaco up the road - they say you need at least 2 million USD in the bank to apply to live there |sad|

Good suggestions. The med side- as opposed to atlantic - is more costly. I've decided on a week mini-vacation in October (when my kid is on half term) and we're going to look at the atlantic side as well as Nice. Monaco would be no problem (I'm sure GG would give me a 2 mil loaner) but I'd be moving to another Rome. A scoop of icecream in a cafe in rome costs equivalent 10 bucks (5 pounds). So when I take my kids for icecream, it costs 90 bucks. LOL Of course you do have McD's next to the spanish steps, so all was not lost. So anyway, leaning to the atlantic side, but will check out the prop in Nice. :)

I agree on "Nice", its really pretty around that town.. we lived in "LaNapoule" I think its called, small town, you can see Nice on the other side of the water :)
