Definitely would be ok to use the sub directories - as many as you can :)

You might want to do something about the filenames for the pics - the space might give some browsers a fit

On the index page, I'd brighten up the text color a little so it catches the surfers eye...it blends in to the background too much...also the hidden text at the bottom can be done in a font that can...
