a tool to monitor mysql

I have frequent mysql crashes and need a tool to monitor for a pattern. Something that checks to see if mysql is running every 10 minutes or so. And im cheap so it would have to be a free one. :)

Thanks for your advice folks, guess I'll have to leave them as is. I have thousands of images spread over hundreds of folders and sub folders so batch converting them isnt really an option for me...

If I want to change a bunch of file extensions to .jpg from .gif is there any negative consequences? Simply renaming the file this way i mean. I know gif to jpg doesnt work for obvious reasons.

How about we set it so fusker ends up hotlinking a big ass image from an internet law firm. So if one of us gets fuskered they crash the law firms site.
